MTV wasn't the first place we noticed Letters To Cleo's kickin' video Here and Now. It was behind the closing credits of a Melrose Place episode. Who would have thought that the show that put the 'mel' in melodrama would turn into a virtual buzz bin? "First thing Tuesday morning, the phone would start ringing," one member of the band told us. "Everyone would call and say,'Hey I saw you on melrose last nite.'" Besides revealing which of their friends indulged in the show, the prime time exposure has drawn attenntion to the Boston band's phenomenal alternapop disc Aurora Gory Alice (Giant), one of those rare cds where every song is good enough to be a single. We hope that whent heir next cd, unglamorously titled Wholesale Meats and Fish, comes out this summer, Jake will attempt to make Shooters a much hipper place by hiring Letters To Cleo as the house band.
