Although singer Nina Gordon cut the "salt" out of her diet, she's currently working on new material that should make things spicy again. The former co-founder of Veruca Salt announced her departure from the group last month and is currently working on a solo career. Gordon is in the midst of writing and demoing new songs, a spokesman for her label, Geffen Records, told JAMTV.

The Chicago native will soon meet with producers and decide where she'll record her debut solo album. Recording is tentatively scheduled to begin some time this summer, the Geffen spokesman told us.

Maybe two VERUCA SALTs are better than one. The inside skinny on the Veruca Salt split has singer/guitarist/cute one NINA GORDON writing material for a new album with ex Veruca drummer Stacy Jones and his former Letters To Cleo mates. Meanwhile, singer/guitarist/less cute one LOUISE POST is in Chicago writing and recording with the remnants of scraggly indie rockers Triplefastaction. Both intend to have albums out next year, just in time for a reunion tour.
