12/1/98 - News from the CleoDigest about Jawbreaker:
.....the first song to appear in the movie [jawbreaker], even before the opening credits roll, is none other than the revamped "I See"! Talk about setting the tone! I can't say a lot about the new version of the song, because it only plays for about 30 seconds. It is decidedly more rock, the guitars are heavier. Aside from that, though, I am just dying (like the rest of you) to hear the new recording in its entirety.
The soundtrack is simply amazing all the way through. The opening credits play over Veruca Salt's "Seether." The Donnas play the prom band in the movie (My god, a movie band that doesn't suck! If you haven't heard the Donnas you should check them out), and have two songs on the soundtrack. Jack Drag, the Cars, and the Prissteens are all there, too. And, lest we forget where this movie has its roots, the Scorpions were rocking like a hurricane right in the middle of the movie. (and there is much, much more)
It is too bad that "I See" couldn't have been the last song, instead of the first. It is too bad a longer piece of the song didn't make the cut. But I really loved the movie, and this should be great exposure for the band. And they ARE the first band listed in the credits, so everyone will read "Letters to Cleo." That can't possibly be a bad thing.
12/1/98 - A few things going on in Cleo Land, courtesy of CleoDigest:
A cleo song may appear on a popular TV show this season, with the band maybe making a guest appearance. The band has been asked to contribute to yet another movie soundtrack. Kay will appear on WFNX in Boston (101.7) tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 1) at 1pm for a live interview.
Mike,Scott and Stacy have been out in Hawaii the past few weeks working on Nina Gordon's post-Veruca Salt solo album. Nina, Scott, Stacy and Mike made some demos for the album last Spring and all 13 songs were amazing. The gang is recording with Bob Rock in Mauii, where VS's "8 Arms to Hold You" was recorded. Kay and Greg are in Boston working on new Letters to Cleo songs. Kay will meet up with Mike in NY on Thursday and then Kay will head back with Mike to Hawaii to hang 20 for a month.
10/17/98-Kay Hanley was recently in the rock opera "Preservation", written by Ray Davies of The Kinks.Lets go to Keith, who was there to see Kay as Belle:
....."I've never been one to be into that kind of thing but it was awesome. We saw it on Friday night and it was great. Flash, The Tramp, and especially the Mad Scientist were amazing parts of the show. Belle had a great solo. It was amazing to see her on a stage singing like that without a rock band behind her. It was the fastest 2 hours of my life I think because it was so good. After the show Friday night we got to meet Kym and her friend and the horrible old people who almost made them leave before they got to meet Kay. We went out afterwards and were asked to attend again on Saturday night which we did and that night it was even better. It being the last show everyone seemed to give 150% more than the previous night. Huge standing ovation at the end....."

10/16/98- Well, the Cleos last show of the year went on last night. They opened for Cheap Trick. More news from Justin:
"..... The whole band was hanging around upstairs after the set while Cheap Trick did their thing. We got to speak for awhile with USA Mike, who by the way was delegated the job of Kay's bag handler for the evening. He said to expect a live album soon. As a side note, the drummer from Talking Animals (who looks remarkably like the singer from Soul Coughing) was on drums though Stacy was in the crowd. The fill-in and Stacy watched Cheap Trick together, very touching. Overall, LTC closed out the 98 season in a big way, certainly earning the golden Hawaii tans the boys will be sporting in the near future....."
10/13/98- I mentioned a few months ago that LTC would be making an appearance in the upcoming movie, 'Ten Things I Hate About You'. Just so you know, Stacy will NOT be in the movie. Lets go to Kevin (from the LTC board) for more info:
"....Stacy isn't in the movie. He was busy doing demos for BMX Girl at the time of the shoot. LTC had a good freind of theirs, Phil Hurley (ex-Gigolo Aunts, Tracy Bonham) who happens to live in Seattle, to sit in...so to speak....."
Phil Hurley also plays guitar and bass in his Seattle band the Tycoons. Also in that band is Chris from the Presidents of the USA.
10/5/98- Have you seen LTC lately, and been surprised to see a NEW face behind the kit?....News from the man himself (we'll call him Mr.X):
"....Stacy is way busy doing lots of little side stuff to play with Cleo so they hired a local guy by the name of Mike Leveque to sit in for 3 shows. The one they just played in N.Y, the Cheap Trick show in Boston and another dubious college show somewhere in New England. After that, LTC in on an extended vacation until they start work on a new album. ...."
