Blur biography
Blur biography
Blur first met in Colchester. Graham, Damon and Dave played in a band together with some other guys.
The band was called Circus, but when the other band members dropped off they decided to start their own band.
Graham knew Alex, and that he could play the bass a little so they asked him if he wanted to join them.
And of course he did. Though his bass playing needed a little practice before they became this good as they
are today. They called the band Seymour. -88, -89 they started playing gigs. In -89 Food records signed them up,
but only if they changed their name so Seymour became Blur, and Blur released their first single, "She's so high".
And after that came "There's no other way", and a following album, "Leisure". The next single that came was
"Popscene", but it failed, and Blur had thoughts about quitting. They overcame those thoughts and gave out a new
single, "For tomorrow", and after that came "Chemical World", both from the album "Modern Life is Rubbish". In -94
came their real breakthrough with the single "Girls & Boys" which reached number 5 in the charts. And the following album "Parklife" reached number 1 in the album charts. In -95 Blur released their "Countryhouse" in the same time
as Oasis released their single "Roll with it" and a contest started. Which band was Britains greatest pop band?
Even here in Sweden they were on almost every magazine cover. Blur won (of course), and got to be the band
of the year. Their album "The great escape" went straight up to number 1 in the album charts. It was a success. In -97
Blur's self titled album was ready, and released. Their singles "Beetlebum", "Song2", "On your own" and "M.O.R"
were great! Nowadays I can't think of anyone who hasn't heard the whoohooing from the radio. And now their new album 13 is out. Very different from Blur's other stuff, but too a great album!
