Peter Grant, Led Zeppelin's manager was going for America's throat. With no album out yet, Led Zeppelin was taking a calculated risk in coming to America. But Peter Grant based on straegy on years of experience and his instinctive savvy for the unslaked cravings of American youth for English rock.
Pushing Jimmy's name, Peter and his agent, Frank Barsalona of Premier Talent, booked Led Zeppelin into the key regional venues for breaking a new act---Bill Graham's Fillmores West and East, the Whiskey in Los Angeles, the Kinetic Circus in Chicago, the Boston Tea Party, and others.
Then Atlantic sent out 500 white-label promo copies of Led Zeppelin to FM stereo rock stations and record stores, which generated a 50,000 unit advance order (excellent business for a first LP by a new band) and genuine listener intrest in the newest band to emerge from the lamented Yardbirds.
Led Zeppelin had landed, and took America by storm.
