MP3 Selection.

PETER TOSH

For those of you who don't know MP3 is a file format which allows one to store an entire song in full CD-quality stereo in a small download. For this reason they can be easily downloaded over the internet (with a little patience!) and either listened to on the computer, or transfered onto cd, tape, minidisc or portable player. You will need to download WinAmp to play these on the PC and MacAmp on the mac. Much respect goes out to all the artists represented, if any of these or their representatives have any problem with the music being here I will gladly remove it. Each song title below links to the download page for that file. These files have the extension .CLASS after them, so when the next box comes up to save the file put the 'FILE TYPE' to 'ALL FILES' and call the file something like "Dennis_Brown.mp3" the .MP3 part is essential so your computer knows they are music files.

Bob Marley

Bob Marley - War
Great tune, truthfull lyrics adapted from His Majesty's speech to the united nations in 1966.

Bob Marley - Crazy Baldheads
One of my favourate Bob Marley tunes from his later work.

Mikey Dread

Mikey Dread - Barber Saloon
The dread at the controls himself Mikey Dread comes with a great tune about those who calim Rasta and then turn shave their head.

Mikey Dread - Roots and Culture

Denis Brown

Dennis Brown - Wolves And Leopards
Seminal foundation tune from the late great Dennis Brown, if you don't know it download now.

Dennis Brown - Whip Them Jah Jah
Another classic, this will be familiar to anyone who's seen the seminal film 'Heartland Reggae'

Dennis Brown - Hooligan

Pato Banton - Don't Sniff Coke
Great tune from Pato Banton circa 1985, funny lyrics but still comes with a concious message.

Capelton/Various - Jah Jah City
Roots tune from the prophet Capelton and various new roots artist such as Morgan Heritage. Excellent.

Big Youth - Green Bay Killing
Big Youth was one of the pioneering DJ's of his time in the 70's and Bob Marley was known to remark that Big Youth was his favourite reggae artist. This tune deals with a real incident in the 70's when the police in Jamaica killed a number of people.

Tony Rebel - Wagonist
Dancehall tune from one of my favourite DJ's Tony Rebel, all bandwagon jumpers check the lyrics.

The Meditations - Running From Jamaica
Great tune from one of Jamaica's finest vocal trio's, documenting their feelings on those who flee the island and forget those they leave at home.

Hugh Mundell - Africa Must Be Free (by 1983)
Great tune produced by the late great Agustus Pablo.
