Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He came to this earth as a baby, born of a virgin, grew up with as a normal child, and even worked with His earthly father as a carpenter. However, He soon left His family to do an even greater work: Tell the world about the Father in heaven!
But why, you may ask? Well, the Bible says in Romans 3:23 "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", which means that no one is perfect, save for Jesus. Many people think that they're going to heaven based on the fact that they're a good person. But being a good person isn't going to get you anywhere with God.
Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". Sin (which is anything that goes against the Bible and/or God) is wrong, and ultimately leads to death. Physically and spiritually. It says in Romans 5:12 "therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned--". What does that mean? It means that we all have a sin nature, and by ourselves we can never be "good".
Here's the good news, though: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). God, our Heavenly Father, sent His ONLY Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us! We've all heard the scripture "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
Do you know anyone that would give his/her life for you? To lay it down, completely and solely for you? Someone that loved you so much, that he/she would give up everything that that had for YOU? I do, and His name is Jesus Christ. 2000 years ago, Jesus died for ME! And for you!
Do you want to know Jesus as your personal Saviour? It's really simple: "... that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousnes, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...For 'whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved'" (Romans 10:9-13).
I want to tell you something: 10, almost 11, years ago I accepted Jesus into my heart and made Him saviour. It's been hard, and there have been many times that I've turned away from Him. But, in the end, I've found that He's always been there with me. In fact, through the worst of times, it's He that carries me.
It's my prayer that you don't leave this page without accepting Jesus into your life! Please, think long and hard about what has been said here! If you want to accept Jesus into your heart, please repeat this prayer and make it personal between you and God:
Heavenly Father, I thank you that you sent Jesus Christ to die for me. I believe that He is Your Son, and that He died on the cross for me. I ask that You forgive me of my sins, and that You come into my heart. In Jesus Name, Amen!
