Introduction

When I was asked to re-review this page, I remembered that this page is one that I have reviewed long ago.  A lot of changes has undergone this site.  Hopefully there will be some improvements.

Graphics

Upon arrival of the page, you have an image that you can click on to enter the main page.  It is as simple as that.   I clicked on the image and went into the main page.  The page is not so spectacular in graphics, but the thing I do like about it is that as some clean, organized graphics.

To be a little more in depth, there is a black background, under that is a picture of Kurt.  Above and below the picture of Kurt is the main menu.  Followed by a poll, and other things as well. In Netscape, the poll is aligned to the left rather than the center like it is in Internet Explorer.  No big problems here.  Perhaps saving space and compressing things would make the site look a little better.

Information

There are a couple of sections that have information in them.  The first one section regarding information is about the webmaster.  After that, there is a section called Depression/Suicide.   This is probably the most noble act I have seen in a Nirvana page.  What David does is give some links and numbers to hotlines or suicide help pages.  For those of you who are interested, there is the equipment FAQ 1.3.  It is really about Kurt's equipment.  Hopefully there will be additions like Dave's and Chris' FAQs.

If you ever wanted to know what the [presumed] tabs to a song were, you would usually have to try it yourself or by a book that costs about $20.  You can easily go on the internet and find tabs or links to tab pages, like this page has put down.  It gives a link to Smiley's tabs page, and another tab page containing various artists.

Further, there is a links section that has a few banners to other sites.  Nothing special here.  As for the lyrics, there is no distinctive way the albums are divided up.   What you get is a page that has all of the songs on one page, listed by album.   This is officially the Nirvana lyrics v.1.0.  In addition there are articles that are from Smiley's page.

There are some other information that this page has.  For example, song meanings.  It is something that, if we have been surfing the internet in Nirvana pages, we should be familiar with.  However a lot of pages do not offer this sort of information a lot these days.  There is a direct link to a video page that has Nirvana videos available to download.  You can also take a look at the Nirvana FAQ 5.0.  Finally, there is a quiz you can take, and, if you answer all of the questions correctly, you will win a prize (sort of).

Miscellaneous

If the information was not enough, there are some other things on this page, too.  You can:

  • See the awards the site has one.

  • By Nirvana things.  A link to a site that is a link to another site that has Nirvana things you can buy.

  • Nirvana fans page.  This is a section where you can have you favorite song file posted, your sounds, art, or ICQ number.

  • Liner notes.  Containing: Incesticide, Hormoaning, and Roma.  For quite some time, the liner notes in Incesticide are not included.

  • Pictures.  A link to the Nirvana photo gallery (see review.)

  • Sounds.  Two links, going to: the sound gallery in the Internet Nirvana Fanclub, including the page Nirvana Fans Sound Off.

  • Miscellaneous.  Sections included: "Did you know?" "In Utero symbol meanings," "Quotes," and "Stories of Kurt."  Some of these sections, again, we are familiar with.  Others offer a little bit of origiality.

Connection

Internet Explorer - 16.5 seconds
Netscape Navigator - 18 seconds

This page can be used with Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator with the same graphics and performance.   Times will be higher if this is your first time visiting the page.  Your monitor resolution should be 800x600 pixels.

The connection test was done on a 56k Winmodem connected at 44,000 bps.  Remember download times will vary depending on your modem speed, browser, server of the page, telephone line activity, and your internet service provide (ISP).

Conclusion

I think the page has improved tremendously since the last time I laid eyes on it.  I must compliment Dennis on a fine job well done.   I would like to see some improvements, though.  A lot more information, that is original, would not hurt.  The page has a lot to work for, and it has already grown quite a bit.
