Introduction
Nirvana sites have become much
more than just lyrics and tabs. They have become so much more. Whether that is good
or not is under question. These days, one site can not survive without content let
alone. A site must have decent graphics and originality to it.
Graphics
The graphics on this site is
excellent in terms of quality, a professional look, and neatness. There is a major
difference between the Internet Explorer and Netscape look on this site. If you use
Netscape, I would have to say that this site would be horrible to visit. In Internet
Explorer, you can move your cursor of a hyperlink, and the yellow text would highlight to
red. Also, in the welcoming page, you have a Java platform that you can work with.
This is why it is strongly recommended you use Internet Explorer
with this site. You can click on something that would, at that frame, show you more
things, if possible. Netscape is a completely different story. If you clicked
on something, and it would have led to something different like it would have in IE, the
frame would change to that section. Now, it is not all that bad. In Netscape,
it acts like any other frames page. With IE, it is a lot more convinent to visit,
navigate, and look at. In Internet Explorer, you can tell if it will change because
the text is white rather than the regular yellow that is in the site. Keep in mind
you can only access one area at a time using IE.

The page
In the page there are several
sections, they are:
Kurt - Biography, Timeline,
Art, and Photo Gallery, Articles and Interviews, and Remembrance.
Nirvana - Members, Timeline,
and Articles/Interviews.
Songs - Discography, Lyrics,
Midi's, and Tabs.
Site - Welcome, View/Sign
Guestbook, Links, Disclaimer, Webmaster.
Kurt
Biography - an original
biography about the life and times of Kurt, by Mick Ronson.
Timeline - a simple timeline
about Kurt.
Art - consisting of drawings
or pictures that Kurt has done.
Pictures - A totol of 71
pictures in 4 pages. Most are familiar, some are not so familiar.
Articles/Interviews - Several
types here. First there are eleven interviews with Kurt. After that are six
professional articles, in addition to the Tom Grant Murder Theory Report.
Furthermore, there is a miscellaneous section containg a chat transcript, about Kurt's
favorite film and another one for his equipment.
Nirvana
Members - a little background
information on the band; a nice chart that gives a graphical description.
Timeline - same timeline you
would fine pretty much everywhere else. Some more specific dates are included.
Songs
Discography - containing
information about albums, singles, compiliations, project, videos, books, and bootlegs.
Lyrics - in their respective
albums and areas. Basically it is an album-a-page deal. Clicking on a song
will cause you to anchor to that song. Note that the albums are not in order.
The section also includes rare songs.
Midi files - a lot of files
for those Midi fans out there. However it comes from another page.
Site
This section contains a link back to the main
page, a guestbook, a disclaimer and information about the webmaster.
Connection
Internet Explorer -
12 seconds
Netscape Navigator - 5 seconds
This was for the frames page, not the first page
you see when you go to the url. Although Internet Explorer is the recommended
browser graphically, Netscape Navigator had a much easier time loading the page. The
page also recommends a monitor resolution of 1024x768, I had no problems using 800x600.
The connection test was done on a
56k Winmodem connected at 38.6 bps. Remember download times will vary depending on
your modem speed, browser, server of the page, telephone line activity, and your internet
service provide (ISP).
Conclusion
A very good page. If your a Netscape user,
the page will work just fine. But considering how good it work with Internet
Explorer, you may feel a little left out in some regards. However you still get the
same information, which is a lot. There is a lot of original as well as used content
on this site. If your an Internet Explorer fan and you want to see a good looking
site, this is a good one.
