Graphics | Information | Multimedia | Miscellaneous | Conclusion
In a time when we are all building our websites, promoting it, updating it, trying to achieve some form of success. Thus, we learn the basic codes of HTML (some of us anyway), and other graphical features. Some dismiss one of the above and go along with what they accustomed to, and that's okay.
Why did I pick no frames? Mind you, it was not the fact that I didn't like the black rectangular box on the right with all the links to help you navigate the site. Furthermore, it was the fact that each one was repeated twice. Not on the frame, but on the main page. I thought frames were supposed to prevent such an establishment from occurring. Is there anything wrong with the no frames section. In a very tiny grand of sand, yes. This is not a certainly bad area, infact, it has a lot of potential graphic-wise. If you ever are going to create columns with a site, create them correctly. Here's how you do it, you have one column on one side and the other on the other side.
The first section under this description that fits directly under this area is the lyrics. It has pretty much all the albums, including a thumbnail view of each one. Not in chronological order though. I kind of found it hard to navigate them a little bit. Anchors would be quite helpful concerning links such as that (and I'm not talking about the ones on ships either.)
The follow up to this section would be the liner notes. Easy navigation? Nope. However you'll find the liner notes for Hormoaning, Incesticide, Wishkah, and Roma notes. Now, if you want to find some information on the webmaster of that site, you can click on the section simply titled, "Dan." Not a lot of personal information here. I suppose that is not the most important thing of the page per se.
Want to find a few links to a couple of Nirvana sites? Well my friend, this page has links. Not a whole lot like The Internet Nirvana Fan Club and not a submission form via page site like Never Fade Away, but it's certainly the thought that counts. The idea is to continue to add links.
The Nirvana text section gives some information...and a link! That's right boys and girls, it takes you directly to another site, offering information. But as usual, for good reasons. 1) To prevent plagiarism, or illegally distributing or just simply company someone's original information. Don't get to emotional about it, as long as you give credit your good to go, but if you taking away the creator's site potential hits (or people that visit the site), then I would think of it that way. 2) Time, with all the information on this linkage page, who would have the time. Okay, now let's have a further look at this. First, you can find information about the symbols on the back on In Utero, and more things like FAQs, and the other "usual" findings at your everyday Nirvana site.
As for the sounds section, not only do you get another link to another site, but with the files this page has, you can't go wrong for the most part. It has all Real Player files. The neat thing about that is that most of the songs are rare.
The pictures section is one of the most impressive I have seen as in the amount of pictures it has. It has two sections, thumbnail and text version. A total of 954 pictures in all. Which one should you choose. For time, text. For viewing pleasure, thumbnails. The follow up to the links, the webrings, by clicking on the 'Next' or what not, you are taken to a site which, you possibly may have never visited before. Speaking of pictures, there are some animations, which are sort of like pictures I suppose. A total of 4 out of 5.
I'm kind of off the link with this page, so bear with me. Hmm, the next section is the boots. A total of 29. I am not aware if he trades or not...probably. I saw some broken pictures in the following sections in the boots:
It's All Gone Wrong
Outcesticide 6
Trick or Treat
New Year's Eve
The Masquerade
Austin, Texas
Noose
Either these were broken pictures or their paths were undefined. Well that's all going to change when you go to the 'My Stuff' section. This is where you can trade with him. He has all of the same CDs as he has in the boots section, in addition to more things. With that in mind, let's disregard the boots section, okay?
The first thing that caught my eye (don't worry, I'll get back to the others) is the Fan Club this page has. You join for free and well, you get stuff. Go to the page for more information. Like the site so much and out of the goodness of your heart you decide to put a link on your page to the site? Well, banners are a much more efficient way of doing so...kind of. Anyway, you can get the HTML for one of the two banners this site has made.
Want to speak your mind about this page in a more dramatic way? You can vote to voice what you think of the site in the 'Rate my page' section. There's also a 'Thank You' section. There's another interesting, quite interesting thing in the 'Help' section. Go and look, don't be afraid.
Hmm...well, it's improving. I like this page a great deal. And it's improving in many areas...especially the pictures, and aren't they ever so temptful? Alas, we should stick to the content. I can understand, for some part, if the page is more of a pictures site, and that's perfectly fine. However if your going to have your site dedicated to something, it needs to show some dignity of that. In other words, if your going to do something with pictures, make your site good in graphics accordingly. If, on the other hand, your going to do something more content wise, then make sure your graphics are decent.
If out of any sections, I would definitely choose the photo gallery.
