Hairspray Queen

The webmaster, like the one from 'Kept His Body Clean,' decided to dump their old page for an attempt at a better one. This time the former webmaster of Angel Wings decided to start a page called Hairspray Queen.

Going to the page you will be introduced to a nice logo in addition to some other things, such as sponsors and what not. You have two choices: frames or no frames. Personally  I would pick 'No Frames' because the frames section does not have enough, I feel, content to create a frame at the moment. If it does have enough content, then it should divide them up, however I see in the 'Multimedia' section some things already.

Something very typical in a Nirvana page today are sounds. You have quite a variety of formats and lengths, some go against Geffen's rules and decide to post a full-lenght song. On the other hand, some go for the 30-second length, afraid that Geffen will find out and shut their site down. You first option is a WAV. file.  That is where you will find most of the files actually. Second are the MP3 files, and thrid are the Real Player files. And fourth and fifth are the MOD's and MIDI files. Advantages of the WAV, MP3, MOD's and MIDI files are that you do not have to be connected on-line to hear it. And advantage of a Real Player file is that it does not usually take up a lot of space on your hard drive. Back to the subject here, there is a good variety of movie files. Some are videos, others are interviews. Most of them are live. Another interesting, and original section is called the Spotlight section. Now, what this actually does is promote popular Nirvana songs (did that sound right?). Promoting by means of giving information on the song, a little bit of the meaning of it per se, and significantly enough, it has many formats of that song for you to download it. What it contains right now are the songs that were made into a video. Sounds like we need to take a poll. :) You will find some tabs for 18 Nirvana songs. Black background, white text will make it easy to read. My personal feelings on this issue is that you should not just include tabs for songs if you are not going to go the 'extra mile' and give more information. Such as on the guitar, etc.

As for the lyrics, you will find them for all of the albums. The thing about what this page does it that the fonts are considerably large, and it does change near the bottom. Next is a section called 'Death Related.' The first thing you will see is a 'Courtney's Suicide Statement,' which is a downloadable file. Kurt Cobain's suicide picture (no blood) is a broken picture. Not only that but the note and the death certificate are broken pictures. The text-version of the note is readable however.

Nirvana downloads for your computer. You have a choice of Startup/Shutdown screens, icons, KC and CL caculator, Incesticide and Onyx fonts.  If I wanted to download anything such as icons or a caculator, I would at least want a *cough*screenshot*cough.

As for the 'other' section (yes, that is the name). You will find a few sites that are reviewed, given a paragraph description. You also have to oppourtunity to win his award. Also there are some links and webrings found on this site, the links are graded from '0' to '10.' Finally there is a guestbook you and sign and/or view.

Conclusion

Like the change from Kept His Body Clean, these pages have had a significant improvement in some areas -- the graphics. As expected, some areas do need work, again, it just started out. I hope it will add some more content, including the Spotlight section.
