Just My Luck, A Nirvana Page

Reviewed and Last Updated on July 23rd, 1998 at 3:33 PM

Is it just my luck that I am going to review this page? From what I am seeing now it looks rather well.  The first page is the 'opening page.' Providith with a Geocities banner which you can rank the site, chat, e-mail, take a tour, and little more (that kind of rhymes ;) ..).

After clicking on the banner, I am lead the what appears to be one of the most organized pages I have seen in my life. It does contain frames, however I am quite pleased with how this page is set up. There is also a 'News' section which is set up in a table-like form which has the date on one side and the news on the other. I can see the page has been working hard. BTW, do not get confused about the dates: an example you would see is 30/6/98, in other words, it means 30th of June, 1998.

As you can see in the thumbnail screenshot, this page consists of what a frame is supposed to consist of. The first section is called, 'Miscellaneous.' The first section, to my surprise, is the 'Links' section. Having mostly banners on the links genre, and at the bottom you will find hyperlink links. Very organized, however I must say that the bottom sections, Unrelated Music links and Unrelated links, take up too much space and should be more compressed in a sense.

Animations seem to be having a problem on this page. The larger files of Kurt, Chris, and Dave seem to be having some technical problems, and the downloading time was horrendous. However it has some animations I have not found at other webpages and :::gasp::: even at Downer. Reviews, reviews, reviews, this is what this page has.  Only a couple, however I believe it is just starting out on it. It gives pages a score of 1-5, including a banner (if available) at the of the review.  You can easily submit your page to be reviewed by filling out a form.

Like the page so much that you want to put their banner on your page? No problem. Go to the 'My banner's HTML' and you'll see a copy of the banner and the HTML for it. Speaking of liking, you will also get to view pages that have liked this page very much, in the 'Awards' section. An interesting section, 'Hard to hear things.' Contains information about things you may not usually hear or may not hear in a song, it also gives the time and the track.

Want to find your way to other Nirvana pages? But your tired of those icky search engines with pages that you've been to many times before? You'll find two webrings on this page. Next is a section named, 'Story.' Giving you a (very brief) history of Nirvana, and the album list as well. You might want to add Hormoaning as well. I would hope this section improves, indeed it has a lot of potential. Misheard lyrics, a section that contains the song, what the lyrics really is, and what people thought it was, and the person who 'misheard' it. Another interesting, yet helpful section.

The timeline, something that we have seen many times before, including the Nirvana FAQ.  You'll find the same one on this page. In addition, you'll find tour dates on this page, from the very early days in Aberdeen in '88 to Munich, Germany in '94, you will see it here on this page. This page is also enhanced with ICQ (think of 'I seek you'), in which, if you do not have the program, you can send him a message from a panel. You can also submit your ICQ nickname, ICQ number, and age to his ICQ list. Also there is a site FAQ (don't get it confused with the Nirvana FAQ), it is very helpful if you have some particular questions in mind.

Next section: pictures. This page has a total of five sections with pictures. I had to wait for a little while for the pictures to load up. They are all in thumbnail form and some are rare ones. If you click on one they load extremely fast. Another good thing about this is that none of the pictures are broken, or missing.

Next is the lyrics, it has all the albums (except Hormoaning).   Easy to find the songs, you click on a song you want, and it will automatically scroll down for you to that selected song. The same goes for the guitar tabs, you click on what you want and it will take you down to that song. It has the same sections, or albums as the lyrics do.  The drums tabs section will take you to the drum tabs page, and personally I feel it isn't quite necessary to do that.  And where are the bass tabs?

Conclusion

I will conclude by saying that this page has just started out, almost two months ago.  However I am very pleased with some of the content on this page: hard to hear and misheard lyrics are one of my favorite and is one of the most original sections I have seen on any page. The pictures are organized neatly but if you are impatient with downloading time you will find that part a little annoying -- but it will be worth it because I have found some great quality pictures that are quite rare to my eyes. In all,  I strongly suggest you support this page, it has a lot to offer and I'm looking forward to seeing it grow. :)
