Krist Novoselic has been a busy
guy. Ideally, a lot of Nirvana fans want him to be compiling Nirvana songs, but he
"can't dwell on Nirvana." The good thing is that Krist has been leading an
active life. In politics, music, and other things as well.
I did not review this site
because in doing so I hope I am being respectful to Krist. Rather, this is an
introduction to his site. This will give you an in-depth look at his site, in
addition to other things Krist has been working on.
Did he create this site for
publicity? No. If he did, he would have let many people know about it, and he
would have probably had a professional web site designer do it. Krist designed the
site himself.
Scrolling through the page I
have found an interesting thing that keeps coming up. In the background you see
pictures of the wild. This is a rather interesting concept. This shows that
Krist is indeed mindful of nature. The pictures you see were taken by him in
Washington state.
L7 The Beauty Process:
Live Tin
We have seen Krist in many
different types. A musician, a politician, and now...a director? Here is what
it says about the film on the site:
"The
Beauty Process: Live Tin is a bonafide Rock 'n' Roll film. The sensational rock group, L7,
take us on a musical flight into the stratosphere only coming down to burrow deep into the
sub terrain of music commerce. Bitter and irresponsible, it is a cautionary tale to those
who aspire merging art with commerce. Ultimately, The Beauty Process: Live Tin is a moving
inspiration demonstrating personal triumph and liberation in the face of adversity.
Including live versions of the songs; Fast & Frightening, Drama, Shitlist, Andres
& more!!!! Filmed and directed by Krist Novoselic."
You can also view images from the film in
it's respective area.
Politics
As Krist says in his website, he is
"compelled by politics." Krist has been active in politics, especially in
JAMPAC. Krist also gives a link to a page titled, The Center for Voting &
Democracy. This site mainly focuses on something called "Proportional
Representation." I myself was confused about what is was, so I went the the Q & A
section and found this:
"Proportional representation (PR) voting systems are
used by most of the world's established democracies. Under PR, representatives are
elected from multi-seat districts in proportion to the number of votes received. PR
assures that political parties or candidates will have the percent of legislative seats
that reflects their public support. A party or candidate need not come in first to win
seats."
Like many of us, Krist also listens to the radio. His
favorite radio show is AMPT Radio. He is also the Executive Producer of the
show. There is an interesting article, Impeachment To Escalate The Partisan War,
by Rob Richie and Steven Hill.
Krist also had the honor of attending and speaking at the
1998 Spitfire Tour. Put it this way, "The Spitfire tour was billed as a free
speech forum with an objective to enlighten, engage and entertain." You can
read Krist's recollection of the tour at the JAMPAC website.
Music
Krist gives a page for both Sweet75 and Nirvana. In the
Sweet75 page Krist tells you what is happening with the band other fun stuff.
In the Nirvana section, you will not find any pictures, tabs,
lyrics, sound files, links, FAQs (because they can not give out their secrets) or anything
in that nature. You do have some things that Krist mentions about things coming up.
For instance, nirvana.com. In my opinion, if anyone deserves to have such an
address, it would be Krist [and Dave].
I did find something a little surprising, and I am glad he
pointed it out:
"I wanted to put up some pic's but then I cruised around some other
Nirvana sites. I was greatly honored and flattered and I wish most of the sites out there
the best. A thought occurred to me though. (nirvana.com) has to pay all of these
photographers to put up images on its forthcoming site. Are any of the sites out there
paying for photos? I doubt it. What irks me are the sites that have advertising
banners. It is painful to see a photo of Nirvana with an advertising next to it. Not being
mindful is not being respectful. That is why there will not be any Nirvana photos on
this site, for now. I dont want people to take my personal property, put it up on
their site then have Ad banners flash across it. I am truly sad that, at this point, I
can't share my photos with you all. Its kind of like putting a bowl of candy
on your door step at Halloween and some bad kids come along and take everything.
I feel the energy out there and I
appreciate it. Until technological or legislative solutions come around, I cant put
any photos up. I am sorry."
Enough said.
Also in it's respective section, Krist
gives you some of his favorite [no Nirvana] links -- which is perfectly okay.
As you can see, Krist, like Dave, cares
about Nirvana. I am sure many of you are probably disappointed with the website.
I am not. This site is to give you some things that Krist has been up to, and
it certainly has. I would like to thank Jeff from The Krist Novoselic Dedication
page for some information.
