PM EST Update - Not a lot of things have changed with this page since the last review, content-wise. However the graphics have improved quite a bit. You have a Java and a text version. With the Java version, it is strongly recommended that you use IE. On the left you have text that looks a little rough to see, when you move your cursor over it, you can get a better view of it. Now, Netscape does look a tad bit better, but your can hardly tell a difference. In this update revision for the processdor review, I will try to focus on the big updates. Nevertheless, there may be some small updates in the page that I have not mentioned.
Connection
The connection test was done on a 56k Winmodem connected at 44 bps. Remember download times will vary depending on your modem speed, server of the page, telephone line activity, and your internet service provide (ISP).
Clearly, in Netscape Navigator, using the text version, you have the advantage over Internet Explorer (Java version) 17 seconds. It is kind of odd how Netscape does a horrible job with the Java, doing a good job with the text. It seems to be a completely different story with Internet Explorer. Conclusion Pretty much the same as in the last review. The page seems to be progressing in many directions, and that is good and bad. The good thing is that it offers a variety. The bad thing is, however, is that it may not know what to do and when to do it. I am very pleased with the improvements the page has made. Negative Dimension is owned and operated by Greg Mosbacker and Joey Games, and is hosted by Hypermart Services. First Review It seems to be that webmasters have more than one Nirvana page. Why? For different reasons. Perhaps they felt that site was not what they really wanted, and they created a "better" one. Maybe they were bored and thought it would be fun to create another one, and see how sucessful it be. Greg from Captain America and Joey from Lethal Dose have teamed up to bring this interesting page. It is not as much as I expected it to be, but this page is just getting started. Graphics Simple and nice. Nothing spectacular, but it is very organized. A light sky blue background, with a picture on top with the links to the side of it. On the bottom is a table bar, under it are the site updates. This is basically the basic format for the site. I really have no big complaints about the graphics, although I think it could do a nicer job with the fonts and site news area. Nirvana-related Keep in mind there is not a whole lot of information or anything about Nirvana on this site. But there are some things that I have found that were Nirvana related. The Evolution of Nirvana pages area is quite interesting. Right now they have two old pages the webmasters of the site, and it is quite interesting to see how far they have advanced in graphics, and information. The Links is really no different than any other Nirvana page that has them. These days, you will find a form to submit it automatically versus the old fashioned way of sending e-mail to the webmaster. Where upon the decision lies on the webmaster, and the length of time too. There is also a WWWBoard that you can, of course, post messages on. You do not need to sign up or anything like that. Also included that is relavent to the links area is the Original Nirvana sites Guide. Right now, however, there is only one. What it does is give a paragraph description of the site. If your in the mood to express your love for democracy, you can do so by taking a poll -- found in the Nirvana Music Awards. Yes, just like any other poll, but from what I understand from reading here, it seems like it will be a lot more bigger than it really is. The Pee Girl section is about Courtney Love. Nothing against her, but you will find some biographical information about her and some other things as well. The Random Act of Kindness area could not be found. In the Sounds area, you have the "CD of the Month." Another section, called "Song of the Week," is not working. I was a little dissapointed in this area. Hence I expected some sounds. Un-related material The first section that is definitely irrelavent to Nirvana is Funny Pics. There are some funny pictures, as well as comics (none are obscene, which is good). Then there are two seperate sections about Joey and Greg. In addition, there are Screen Themes in which you can download. The good thing is, if you do not want it anymore or your parents get mad, you can download the original file to fix it. It would be nice to have a Nirvana desktop with icons. Finally, there is the Word of the Week. Here you will find a strange word, including the definition, that actually has to deal with Nirvana. Conclusion A good, enjoyable page to visit if you are bored. If your looking for a page with Nirvana material, this is not your page. It is a good page, and I hope that it grows. Like most pages that put in the effort, it has potential to grow. But the thing is, Greg and Joey still continue their own sites. |
