Nick's Nirvana site

It's been a while since I've done this review. However, like most reviews, they are updated. The page now has changed quite a bit. For one thing, it has a main page. If you have Windows 95 w/IE4.x, or Windows 98, you can add this page to an Active Channel. Then you can view the page on your desktop. You click on the image and you will be introduced to the main page.

Nothing much at all has changed about this page. The format has stayed pretty much the same. Horizontally and vertically divided. The first section, is articles. Containing well over 60 articles. The bootlegs section has grown a tad bit. You have a list of on-line music stores as well as some bootleg traders. You can also submit via form someone who ripped you off.

The lyrics is next. You see a thumbnail version of the cover. It has all of the albums except Wishkah. However it does contain some rare songs. The lyrics section is by far one of the best. It is that way because you get the tracklist, album information, related articles, a link to the bass and drum tabs of that album and finally, lyrics. All the tabs work except for Unplugged. Tabs for the rare ones will "be added later."

As we are entering the FAQs section now, you have a link to the KC Equipment FAQ page. A very comprehensive site. Although this page has a lot, some that do stick out are: KC/Nirvana Equipment Tutorial 3.0; About the gear and many others. The next section is dedicated to Liner notes, so for all the albums that you know that have them, and a few you probably do not, they are all here. Sound files, the ones that are in Real Audio, the first set of ones, are about 40 second in length. Then you have Mods, and speeches from both Krist and Courtney about Kurt's death. The Real Audio section seems to have more rare material than the MODs. Nonetheless they are all about the same length. For more downloads, you have movies. It says that nothing is working at the moment but it will when he uploads them. However it has clips, live videos, full length videos and interviews.

If we all remember correctly, this site has some impressive pictures. It has added about 70 pictures. It has 17 pages, however at the moment only 15 are working. 32 pictures on each page. Also they are in thumbnail, which are no larger than 9k. What's missing from this page? That's right -- links. And that is what is next. You can submit your own page or another page. So of course your going to see a lot of links. You also have 'Recommended Sites' and sites that will be added. You also have several choice of Search Engines you can use on this site. If I am correct, the articles and tabulatures are repeated on the frame. You can voice your opinion in the 'Voice your opinion' section. Someone wrote an article about Kurt's depression. But for the record Nirvana did not break up before his death. If you want to get back with Nick, you can submit a form to him, which is like an e-mail.

If the links and the search engines were not satisfying enough, you can find some sites sponateously by going to the webrings section. It also has information on how to join Nick's webring. You also have the green Java chat room available. There is also an "Awards" page. This site has *cough* won a lot of awards. There is also a message board on this site. You can also read some news and more in the 'News' section.

Conclusion

A great page that has updated a few things, however even after this period it still has some carisma. I would hope it updates all the sections, because it offers a lot of origality and most importantly: content. I noticed one article was not working in the articles section, though. The graphics are pretty good for the most part, and it is not too hard to navigate around.
