Introduction
This is a review I should not have done.
It was not a bad page, but I did a review of Rochelle's Nirvana page yesterday,
however under some very dumb circumstances that were completely my fault, the review was
erased. I will try to remain as close to the original review.
Graphics
If there is anything I learned from yesterday's
review, it was how the graphics were handled between the browsers. For instance,
when you enter the page, you have a black back ground, a banner of the page title, an
animation of Kurt playing on SNL in 1993. Now, what was the difference?
A scrolling marquee was the difference. In Internet Explorer 4.1, the marquee
was on the left. On Netscape, the marquee was in the center. Also, the table
near the bottom that will be the navigation for the site looks a tad bit better on
Netscape.

Review
Since I can not categorize everything into a
distinctive category, such as "Multimedia" or "Information," I chose
to simply review the site.
The first section is an album survey.
You can look at the latest results and even vote. Perhaps there should be
more than an album survey, such as favorite song or destruction (mine is Reading '92 :)
Moving along to a crossword puzzle, it appears that it is not a
Java puzzle as I thought it was originally. It turned out to be two pictures -- one
for the questions and one for the puzzle itself -- which is not too bad actually.
For those of you who have printers, it would be a great idea to print the puzzle
out. For those of you who do not have printers, you can just play the guessing game.
Are there any other options? Well, yes. You could either change it into
a Java puzzle, or you could make a quiz.
In most pages, there is a photo gallery
of some sort. And you know what, so does this page. It takes a little bit to
load up, due to the different sized thumbnails. In all, there are twenty-seven pictures. There are about
one or two I have not seen before. Further, there is a links
section that contains a few banners, one which is broken, and a few out-dated links.
It also contains a few bootleg-related links as well.
Clicking on the tabs
section we see two different sections. For the tabs, only two out of three work, and
for the lyrics, both of the links work. Also included on the page are two videos,
which contain the infamous Dallas 1991 "Love Buzz" fight, then there is the
"Come As You Are" video. Both files are 2 to 3 MB.
Probably the most interesting
section I found on the page was the quotes. There are a total of
fifty-four quotes, and I enjoyed reading most of them. The webrings
should have been included with the links, but if you need to know, there are two webrings.
Connection
For this page, it is recommended
that you have Netscape Navigator. Your monitor resolution should be 800x600 pixels.
Netscape Navigator - 5 seconds.
Internet Explorer - 1 min., 10 seconds.
The connection test was done on a
56k Winmodem connected at 38.6 bps. Remember download times will vary depending on
your modem speed, browser, server of the page, telephone line activity, and your internet
service provide (ISP).
Confused? So was I. But it seems
that Netscape remembered the page a lot better than Internet Explorer did. If this
was yesterday, and you saw the review, Netscape and Internet Explorer would have been
higher.
Conclusion
It is a nice page. It brings back memories
of the smaller pages that I saw a lot. I would hope that the page would get updated
a lot more, add some content and/or multimedia. You can not expect a page to be
perfect from the beginning if you do have experience with HTML and building webpages.
For a lot of Nirvana fans, their first page is a Nirvana page.
