~Rough Around The Edges~

This is a site I was asked to do. So, without further delay, let's get to the review. First things first, is the graphics. That will give you a sense of what it will be like when you enter the site. I will continue to grow more in depth in this review, pointing out things along the way.

Graphics

The first thing you will notice first is the image map. An interesting image map indeed. It's a yellow circle and some of the words overlap to for an 'x.' You can click on any word and it will take you to that particular section. Scrolling down a bit, you'll notice the page news and updates. After that you have a lot of links to programs and such.

If the image map was a little too confusing, then there is a little area below it which will allow you to get a better visual of it. I'm not saying the image map is bad, but if you don't know what your doing, depending on what kind of person you are, you could click on either.

Review

The first part of the page, or the section, is the chat room -- which does not work. The following does work, which is the Message Board. This message board has some quality to it, simple quality. Keep in mind that you can post your message and/or reply for free.

Nirvana Music Awards section is probably the best voting area I have seen in any page. You can vote for your favorite member (with the option of "other and specify"), best destruction (don't we love those?) and best Nirvana related band. You can also nominate a topic that will be voted on. Another original section I have found is the tab of the week, this contains, of course, a song tabbed. It also has an area where you can view older tabs of the week. Mostly it contains rare songs.

There is a section called 'New sections.' This has pretty much the newer sections of the page, and it will pretty much finish the review. The first new one is the CD of the Month, there it will have a Real Player file of the song. The next section is the song of the week, of course it will have a song. Download it and hear it using Real Player. I would recommend putting some lyrics if available. The Backward CD of the Month section is *blank* If you like the Nirvana Music Awards so much, you can put the banner on your page that supports it. The 'Pissed Little Button' doesn't work (that's a section, really.) There is is yet another section that reviews Nirvana sites. Give this page a try and get your page reviewed. It's always helpful to get a "second opinion."

Last but not least in the section you'll probably notice more than anything. That's right...you'll know what I'm talking about. In any case, it has information on Jimi Hendrix and some sound files as well, then a special recorded version of SLTS by the webmaster of the page and a Hanson picture for all those anti-Hanson people out there.

Conclusion

Nice image map, nice graphics. Some graphics were not the best like the news and updates, but that's perfectly OK depending on what kind of person you are. However it doesn't live up to the expectations though. But I'm not expecting too much out of this page, or any page for that matter, concerning graphics. Graphics are important, but they do not reveal everything. You can have horrible graphics and great content, or vice versa.

I'm aware this page is fairly new, so I'm not going to get to hard on it about the content it has and doesn't have. The thing I like most about this page is the Nirvana Music Awards. Probably the best voting area I have seen in any Nirvana page. However I will emphasize (Oh no, not again!) Worry about the content first, build on it because that is the foundation of your page. The graphics can add a temporary foundation on your page, that is, if you put it that way. But remember content conquers graphics. People may be in awe with some graphics, but once they find nothing that interests them, they just leave.
