And I'm Stoned

Reviewed on August 22, 1998 - 2:03 PM

Never before have I reviewed three pages done by the same person. Why is that? Well, for one thing, the person seems to want a "fresh" start. The other two last pages were good. However I hope there is a good reason for it, and, no lost of any sort from it.

A major componet to a page, despite if you have a lot or little. What people really want is organization, easy navigation, and something that fits on their monitor. They also want something that takes little or almost no time to download. It depends on a lot of things, such as modem speed, server compability, etc. The page has gone clean and started to use tables. Tables are a excellent option if you do not want frames. There is a table version of the news and updates. Not a bad choice, however it would always help to add some colours to the tables.

Review

The first real section of the page has some movie files. This gives some wonderful links that will allow you to download some of the fomats it has to download. Not a lot now, however, I do believe that there should be more in the future. What does it have currently? In three sections (Live, MTV videos and Interviews) there are eight.

Following up to the movie files, the sounds, only a tad bit better. You have some of the album songs (except Wishkah), all of the wav. files are 30 seconds. The biggest part of this section is the rare ones. A pretty impressive sounds section, although I would hope it continues to add more. The Micellaneous section has a link to alt.music.nirvana, the Nirvana Dictionary, and Dave's 10 Drummer jokes.

Here are some 'Downloads.' Not a lot of downloads but not the worse because it has screenshot versions of each. Finally! As for the Startup/Shutdown screens, I would suggest having some kind of 'Help' file in which that, if people wanted to put up the default ones, then they could do it easily. Remember kids, screwing around with your Registry is no fun. If you follow the simple guidelines, your can have your site win his award. Pretty simple.

Next, there are some banners. At the banner section, there will be an HTML code for his banner, and also some other banners to other sites as well. The following section contains covers that Nirvana has done, it would be more appropriate to have a table for it. (Remember the cover 'Sweet Emotions'?)

If you need some help with designs on your site, there is a new trend on the Internet these days (or at least Nirvana sites) that will design pages for you -- and it's free. If you want to vote, you can have the option of doing so here. You can vote for your favorite page at this time. Speaking of trends, this page also does website reviews. You can read some of the pages it has done.

If you want to join the page's alliance, which is sort of like a mailing list, you can. There are some rules and guidelines to follow. The site affiliates section is not working -- something with the URL. The is a section called Kurt and Courtney, giving you some information on a variety of things.

The next section is basically the page's features. The thing you will see first is the message board, courtesy of BeSeen.com. After looking around the page, judging the content and material for yourself, you can take the time to sign and view the guestbook.

Conclusion

Well, not as much of an improvement from the other two pages. Now, if it works hard at the page, and with time and patience, I can defintely see a bright future in the horizon for this page. The sounds and movies sections were not too bad, and the Kurt and Courtney sections gave some helpful and unique information.
