Territorial Pissings: Nirvana e-mailing list Reviewed on November 16, 1998 @ 4:03 PM EST I came up with the "e-mailing list" part myself. Actually, it is called Territorial Pissings. This is not a normal Nirvana page per se, but it does offer a few things. Keep in mind that this page is under construction. My opinion is that it is fairly new. This is not a mailing list such as HSB, among others. It's not moderated It's not moderated. Topics can range from anywhere. The intention is to talk about Nirvana-related things, but as the webmaster explains, "We're a somewhat close mailing list. We use our real names." He continues to talk about this area during the introductory paragraph. Joining the TP Mailing List Information regarding joining the TP Mailing list will be found at the mainpage. The Basics, kind of Here are some of the stuff this page has, that can usually be found at every other page. First, there is a photo gallery. Which consists of four different units. A small gallery indeed, the first unit consists of five pictures. The first set has Nirvana logos, and the pictures are smaller than thumbnails. Secondly, there is the Kurt section: sixteen pictures. The gallery does not seem to be well organized, and the picture size causes a lot of download time. There is also no navigation tool or links to the other sections in the Kurt section. As for the family pictures, I recieved a welcoming "404 File Not Found"* message. This also includes the Dave and Chris photo sections. *Information was recieved from the webmaster stating that some of the links were not working. The members photo section only has two pictures. Hopefully there will be more in the future. Click on that section and you'll see what I mean when you get jealous. Hehe.. A wise move for the lyrics section. It directed it link to the Nirvana Song Encylopedia (see review). It also does another direct link to a guitar tabulature page. There is also a link to a Discography, and a Discography Plus, a.k.a. "The Collector's Nirvana Discography." The bootlist archive was unavailable. Next you will find a list of links. A good list. There is also another links section that deals with members of the mailing list. The pictures that are found in that section do not work. Graphics It's only a mailing list, but the presentation is a little important in some ways. Nobody is the same regarding this. But for a mailing list you may want to keep it a little simple, and somewhat a little professional. Do not try to over do it, but make sure you keep the text left-aligned at all possible times. Another suggestion that I have is to compress everything together. For instance, instead of having the introduction paragraphs you can make links to a section on "How To Join." An image map might be helpful. No matter, these are only suggestions that I have, but it could work. Conclusion It is only a mailing list homepage, as I have stated earlier in the review. It really is not a big deal about the graphics and content of the page. It only matters to two people. Those who may be joining and those who have already joined. Hopefully it will try to touch up things a bit. Further, I would like to see some originality to it. No idea is a bad idea untill you test it. |
