Life's a beach for Keith
4th February 2000:
Boyzone may be all washed up - but the group's Keith Duffy is out to prove that life is a beach. The Irish singer is set to sign
a major deal with a TV company to host a live beach party show. The programme is set to feature live bands and will be shot
partly on location in Miami, Florida.
Keith said: "I love TV because of the spontaneity. There's even talk of me and the family spending two months filming in
Florida. Shane [Lynch] has his driving and the other lads are busy with their solo singing careers, but that's not something I
wanted to do." Keith's wife Lisa is expecting their second child in eight weeks time.

Ronan goes solo after last Boyzone show
5th January 2000:
Ronan Keating will begin his bid for solo stardom just hours after the group's final concert in Dublin on January 12. The Boyzone frontman will fly out to Los Angeles the next morning to finish his debut album.
He said: "I'm going over to LA with my wife Yvonne and the baby for a month to complete the album. I'm really excited about it. I've more work to finish with Barry Gibb, and then it's just a matter of choosing the final songs. At the moment we've got over 20. I've written a lot of them myself and worked with big names on some others. After that it's off to Miami for a week and then home to launch the whole thing."
Ronan is also planning a solo tour for the end of the summer if sales go well. He added: "My dream would be to perform solo in the
Point Theatre in Dublin." While Boyzone still deny that they are breaking up, they will be apart for most of the year.

Ronan makes song and dance about soccer
17th December 1999:
Ronan Keating, Tom Jones and actor Greg Wise have been earmarked for a London musical about the fortunes
of Manchester United. The tale of the football team is set to be immortalised in song and dance for a West End
production beginning next September.
Producer Patrick Nally says the show, provisionally entitled Theatre of Dreams focuses on manager Matt
Busby's golden era, beginning in 1948 and ending with the European Cup victory in 1968. It seems strange,
then, that the Boyzone frontman is being lined up to play David Beckham, - who was not born until seven years
after that triumph.

Boyzone are bigger than Rugrats
17th December 1999:
Teen sensations Boyzone have a new official measure of their popularity - they're bigger than both Rugrats and
country superstar Garth Brooks. The Irish band have just confirmed an extra date in Dublin's Point Theatre next
month - making it their ninth show. This pips both Rugrats and Brooks by one show. Brooks set his eight-gig
record in the venue back in 1994, while kiddies' show Rugrats matched it only last month.
Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating said: "Every time we add another show to this run we all believe it will be the
last one. But within days someone calls to tell us it's sold out and to ask us to do another one. It's unbelievable."

Boyzone - the end is near
7th December 1999:
Boyzone boss Louis Walsh is still insisting that the band will break up next year after a series of sell-out shows in Dublin.
The group now look set to add an extra two dates to their eight shows in Dublin's Point Theatre. Louis said: "They are
definitely calling it a day. Shane Lynch just got drunk at the MTV awards and said they were staying together. But he was
wrong." The manager was addressing 300 well-heeled diners at the Marketing Society Christmas lunch in Dublin.
Outspoken Lynch turned the air blue with an emotional outburst at the MTV awards show last month. But Louis says that
he is now concentrating his efforts on new acts Westlife and Samantha Mumba, as well as guiding Boyzone frontman
Ronan Keating's solo career. He said: "I'm putting my money on Westlife being number one for Christmas with I Have A
Dream. There's a bit of competition all right, but we should be okay."

Ronan Keating confirms end of Boyzone
2nd Nov. 1999:
1999 looks set to be the last year of Boyzone - as lead singer Ronan Keating let slip it's unlikely the group will reform after
their year-long break. During a flying visit to Copenhagen, Denmark at the weekend, the When You Say Nothing At All
singer was caught off guard and explained that there are no Boyzone plans for the future - and their solo careers are "all
that really matters".
He said: "In January 2000 all of us will be pursuing our own personal goals until next Christmas - and then maybe, and it's
only just maybe, we will pick up where we left with Boyzone. After six years living in each others' pockets, we need to go
our separate ways. Certainly I cannot commit to Boyzone if my solo career takes off."
Fellow band members Mikey Graham, Steven Gateley, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch have their futures neatly laid out
already with Graham and Gateley ready to record solo albums. Duffy is set for a career as a TV host and Shane Lynch is
aiming for a fully fledged career in rally car racing after landing a contract worth more than a million pounds.

Ronan Straight In At No 1 Spot
1st August 1999:
BOYZONE star Ronan Keating's first solo single went straight to the top of the charts yesterday.
The song, When You Say Nothing At All, toppled Latin heart-throb Ricky Martin from his three-week reign at No 1. Ronan, 22, said last night: "I'm absolutely delighted to be No 1.
"I was obviously very nervous with it being my first solo record and being without the rest of the boys."
The single, which is taken from the hit movie Notting Hill, makes it Ronan's seventh No 1. He is also at the top of the album charts with Boyzone's greatest hits collection By Request.
HMV chart expert Gennaro Castaldo said: "He has really shown he is his own man and has a rosy future if he chooses to pursue a solo career at some point.
"He roundly outsold Ricky Martin by about three to one at times last week."
Two other tracks from Notting Hill - by Elvis Costello and Another Level - are also in the charts.
Ricky's Martin's single Livin' La Vida Loca and his self-titled album are now at No 2 on both charts.
Irish boy band Boyzone have had a Midas touch in the past few months. When their album By Request topped the charts it meant they equalled The Beatles' record of going to No1 with their first four LPs.

Boyzone Star And His Wife Put Belfast In The Shade - Couple Don Sunglasses For Shoppping Trip Disguise
21st January 1999:
Boyzone Star And His Wife Put Belfast In The Shade - Couple Don
Sunglasses For Shoppping Trip Disguise THEY looked just like any other young couple out for a quiet afternoon's shopping in Belfast.
The only thing that hinted at their true identity was that fact that both were wearing sunglasses on a gloomy day.
But the disguises worked as few realised yesterday that they were rubbing shoulders with Boyzone star Ronan Keating and his model wife Yvonne Connolly.
Ronan wore a brown leather jacket, with dark blue jeans and a peaked hat pulled over his face.
Yvonne was dressed in dark clothes, with a black jacket and her hair pulled back.
Among the shops they visited on their low-key shopping spree were Golden Discs, Boots and the Original Levi's Store, where
they bought a pair of boot-cut jeans.
"Ronan was very friendly but it was obvious he didn't want any hassle," said the shop assistant who served him.
And she revealed Yvonne, who is pregnant, is "really starting to show".
They also looked for clothes at Gap in CastleCourt.
Lorraine Campbell, who works in the ladies department, said Yvonne unsuccessfully searched for a pair of trousers but it was
Ronan who really interested her.
"He looked really, really lovely," she said
