I enjoy Latin American music (as well as pop, rock, country, classical
and a little new age too.) Latin American music is my favorite. The late Tito Puente recorded over 100 albums. I have more than half of them. My wife and I used to dance to his band in New York. The picture here is one I took of Tito during a performance in New York's Rockefeller Center. I also caught his performance a number of years ago at Kansas City's Spirit Festival.
Tito Rodriguez was another favorite (and wow, I was privileged to see his surprise final performance at a Latin all stars concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC shortly before he died.) Henry Fiol has some fantastic albums, which are very hard to find. Roberto Torres, originally of Orquesta Broadway, also great and also scarce. Wilfrido Vargas does some great dance music. Thalia, Veronica Castro and Daniela Romo are all fine singers (as well as actresses in "novellas" - spanish language soap operas - and the latter two have had pretty good talk / variety shows on Univision).
I'm now scanning my original artist photography and placing it at dotPhoto;
soon it will include my photos of Tito Puente, Paquito D'Rivera, Jesús Alemańy and his orchestra ˇCubanismo!, Tish Hinojosa, Jose Feliciano, as well as Count Basie, Angela Hagenbach, Diana Krall and many others. You can buy quality high resolution prints in various sizes direct from dotPhoto at very reasonable prices (photos displayed on the Web are usually pretty low resolution).
Who are your favorite artists? (keep reading *L*) Write me and tell me. What CDs do you have or have you heard that you think I should add to my collection?
