The first group, the ‘one
timers’ are the bunch who make it their New Year resolution to
make their lives healthy.
They start off with taking out an over-priced membership with
all the additional trimmings
at the gym, and follow this initial step with attending the
next day, in their brand
new DKNY active sports outfit. Although they look the part,
they never seem to return
due to the sheer lack of motivation. The second ‘ friends only’
group are people who
join the gym simply because of the two for one deal, and believe
they can keep motivated
because their best buddy is working out with them.
The final, and most successful
group of all is “the dedicated”. This cluster of people
possess determination
that would match any vicious dictator, and attend gym no matter
what the conditions may
be. It isn’t easy being one of the dedicated, but by taking into
consideration a few simple
points it can be made a lot easier. Begin firstly by
constructing a set schedule,
and sticking to it. Forget about dinner at the Jones’s, or the
50% of Gucci sale, and
remain dedicated. Envision a clear picture in your mind of what
you aim to achieve, and
do not stop until you achieve it. By pushing your body to the
limit, each session working
harder and harder, you will also gain mental strength. Tasks
that appeared challenging
in the past, now seem menial. After several weeks, you will be
reaping the great benefits
of your sacrifice. But one must not stop there. The dedicated
must maintain plenty
of motivation and endure the hard grind, preferably on their
lonesome. Buddies,
and gym should never mix. This combination can prove deadly to
your routine. While
a gym partner can encourage and increase your motivation, this
person should remain
neutral. You should also, take the liberty to encourage and praise
this person, to further
their performance. However the foundation of your motivation
should come within.
This is the only way to retain your dedication, and persevere.
Hard toil is not only
rewarded by the superb state of your health and well being, but by
acting as a model to
the other gym members, often making you amongst the most
admired individuals in
the gym. Being health conscience appears to be an effortless
process, an easy part
of life but without dedication, and motivation this state can not be
achieved. Many,
when it comes to going to the gym and having to endure extreme
physical demands, use
excuses or fabricate an alibi, but these individuals are only
cheating themselves.
Although being dedicated is a difficult and trying process, by
sticking to a set routine,
keeping motivated, and believing in yourself, you are on the way
to a healthier, more
disciplined, happier life.
