Moffatts On The Move

ALL-STARS:Do you have a story you tell people to explain the triplet thing? SCOTT MOFFATT:Dave was actually the biggest when we were born.He was the heaviest, and the shortest. He's actually grown and now he's taller than Clint. CLINT:He just eats and eats and it's his favorite thing to do.And then he got a little bit taller. We can't rub it in anymore. ALL-STARS:Do you feel older,Scott? SCOTT:I am older, but I don't feel older.I just feel like a brother. If I was 2 years older,it would be alot different. BOB MOFFATT:I think for the three of us three as well,we don't consider ourselves triplets until somebody asks about it.We just consider ourselves as four brothers. ALL-STARS:Not even identical twins? CLINT:No. ALL-STARS:Does Twin stuff happen to you? SCOTT:There are several occassions when they were younger where they actually had that connection.Clint was born with a hernia,so they had to do an operation. They went to the hospital and Bob was taken home.As they were doing the operation,Bob woke up in the middle of the night. BOB:They finished the operation at 4:00 in the morning.Clint woke up and started crying. At the same time,we were in Victoria and Clint was in I think,Vancouver.I woke up at 4:00 in the morning and started crying too. SCOTT:The same thing happened a couple of years later.Clint was playing baseball with a friend and the kid took a swing back and hit Clint in the head.He was in total pain. They took him to the hospital cause he was really hurt.It turned out to be a minor concussion.Bob woke up in the middle of the night because Clint was really hurt. ALL-STARS:Your personal styles are really different.Did you try to cultivate that? DAVE MOFFATT:It was always like that. CLINT:Musically,yes.Personality-wise too.Musically there are alot of differences which is great for a band.I mean,we don't want to take people's ideas and incorporate it into ours,in some ways we do... ALL-STARS:You're influenced by the people you like. SCOTT:Exactly. But,when we were really young,we used to dress exactly alike so that our Dad could spot us in the audience.Four boys in shorts and cowboy hats. BOB:We used to wear the weirdest clothes.Pink shirts in green pants. ALL-STARS:Do you think that's why you look so different from eachother now? SCOTT:As we've gown older,we've changed. CLINT:When we were younger we weren't too concerned with what we looked like. ALL-STARS:When did the moment come when each of you said,"I'm going to do this" and express your individuality? DAVE:I keep on making my decisions. SCOTT:About two and a half years ago we cut our hair.I was about 12 when I said I'm going to wear something fashionable instead of just whatever I find.Clint was always fashionable. CLINT:When I was younger, every single christmas I would ask for suits. BOB:Clint is the kind of guy who would get up at 4 in the morning, get out of bed,fix his sheets,go back to bed.(Moffatts laugh.) CLINT:I think when I was younger I really did care what I looked like.Because it's important, you know. You go out in public and people are always looking at you and it's important. We don't want to dress like our dad. ALL-STARS:How do you define your personal styles? CLINT:Scott goes for the trends.Whatever's hip,he's into.We went over to England and he saw the fashion over there and he just loved it. CLINT:And Dave dosen't care. DAVE:That IS a trend now.(all laugh)
