Yeschic's Yesstories

"The Time is Now, The Word is "

***Please note: All events occuring within are completely fictional and are all in good fun. I do not know any members of Yes (past or present)!***

(Scene: As we last left our young, Yes-neophyte heroine, she had met Billy Sherwood at a concert, who in turn gave her a backstage pass. She has converted her two friends into Yes fans, and is now backstage after a magical evening of Yes music.
Michelle spots Igor Khoroshev.)

Michelle: Igor! Hi, howe ya doin' man? Great show! Igor and Michelle

Igor: Thank you.

Michelle: So howe do you like being a member of Yes?

Igor: It's really great. They're really a bunch of great guys. Are you a reporter?

Michelle: (with a laugh and a smile) No! I'm just a devoted fan. You know, I've been starting to take up keyboards since I started listening to you guys...

Igor: That's great!

Michelle: I'm not very good so far, but one day I hope to become as good as you or Rick Wakeman.

Igor: He's an excellent keyboardist. It's pretty difficult to follow in his footsteps with Yes. I've always loved his work. I used to listen to Yes back in the 70s and 80s, and I was quite a fan myself.

Michelle: Yeah, I think I read that in last year's tourbook.

Igor: Well, I was just on my way to the after-show party. Would you like to come with me?

Michelle: Oh, I'd love to, Igor! Thank you!

Igor: You're welcome. The more, the merrier...

(They walk side-by-side to a large room where the other members of Yes are seated on comfy-looking chairs. There are numerous other people also in the room. There is a long table on one side of the room with bottles of wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverages. There are also fancy desserts on this same table. Michelle and Igor walk to this table and each grab a drink. Igor has a vodka, and Michelle has a glass of champagne. The two of them walk over to where the other members of Yes are sitting.)

Billy: Hello again, Michelle! :-)

Michelle: Hi, Billy! Great show, guys!

YES: Thanks!

Billy: Jon, Steve, Chris, Alan, this is Michelle.

Jon, Steve, Chris & Alan: Hello Michelle!

Michelle: Hi guys! It's great to meet all of you!

Chris: Howe do you know Michelle, Billy?

Billy: I met her by the souvenir booth before the show. I gave her my extra backstage pass.

Michelle: Yes, and thank you again, Billy!

Billy: You're welcome.

Chris: If I may say so, you seem a little younger than most of our fans. Did you come aboard on the 90125 album?

Michelle: In a way, yes. I was about 3 years old when 90125 came out, but I remember the "Owner of a Lonely Heart" video and the song "Leave It". I loved both of those songs. Being as young as I was, I didn't know who sang those, and I just became
reacquainted with your music last year, when my mother wanted to see Alan Parsons in concert. Of course you know they opened for you guys, and you put on such a great show that it just blew me away! So after that I bought YesYears, liked what I heard, and have been a fan ever since. I have all of your albums now, and I even ran out to the store the very day "The Ladder" was released.

Jon: That's quite a story! It seems you were destined to become one of our fans.

Michelle: It seems that way to me too, Jon.

Steve: That is quite a story. Do you have a favorite album?

Michelle: If I absolutely had to pick just one, it would have to be Tales From Topographic Oceans. But I love Close to the Edge, Fragile, Drama, The Yes Album, The Ladder... Well, actually I can't really say there's an album I don't like! I also like a lot of you guys' solo works: Chris, I love Fish Out of Water...

Chris: Thank you.

Michelle: Steve, all of your albums are great, but I think my favorite is Quantum Guitar.

Steve: Thank you.

Michelle: And Jon, I like your stuff, too. I only have Olias of Sunhillow, though... I'm still working on my collection, you see. I would like to find this one song you did for a movie back in '85.

Jon: Let me see, that would be...Something, Adventures in Time, was it not?

Michelle: "Biggles: Adventures in Time", Yes. The song was...

Jon: (singing)"Do You Want to be a Hero?"

Michelle: Yes, that's it. : )

Jon: That movie didn't go over too well. : ( I imagine it would be hard to find. Maybe I can find a copy for you...

Michelle: Would you?! That would be wonderful, Jon! I'll even pay you for it...

Jon: Don't worry about the money. You can give me $15 if I can't get it too easily, but if I don't have any problems, which I imagine I won't, don't worry about paying me anything.

Michelle: Thank you so much, Jon! (she gives him a kiss on the cheek) You're an angel!

Chris: Why don't I ever get kisses from pretty, young girls? It's always Jon...

Michelle: Oh, Chris...(she walks over to Chris and gives him a kiss on the cheek) You know I love all of you...

Alan: You've only been a fan for a year?

Michelle: Yeah. If only I had been born ten or so years earlier...

Jon: We may have a solution...

Steve: (distraught) Jon, you can't!

Chris: I think it's a great idea, Steve.

Steve: But we haven't told anyone outside the group! It's bad enough that we told members who were only with us for a year or so, like Patrick Moraz!

Chris: Patrick Moraz... A very unique individual, quite an interesting chap...

Steve: And Rick! What would he say about this?!

Billy: He's not a member anymore, Steve.

Igor: Yeah, Billy's right...

Steve: (getting more upset by the moment) You two? You hardly even know anything about it! And besides, Jon, howe do you know this will work?

Michelle: Steve, I love you, but chill out. Jon, please go on.

Steve: You don't understand the magnitude of this! The repurcussions are indefinite!

Alan: Hey, I'm the percussion man here...

Jon: (ignoring Alan's weak attempt at humour) But she is one of us.

Chris: Jon's right. She understands.

Alan: And if she's willing to take the chance...

Steve: (frustrated) I'm calling Rick! (he walks quickly over to a corner of the room where there is a phone on the wall and dials Rick's number.)

Chris: I can understand Steve's concern, but really...!

Jon: I think this was meant to be. All of us can benefit.

Alan: Jon's right.

Chris: This could work out beautifully.

Billy: If it works.

Jon: I believe it will.

Steve: (returning to his chair) Rick is hopping his private jet as we speak. He thinks we should call Bill Bruford, too.

Alan & Michelle: Bill?!

Alan: We don't need to call him...

Steve: He's as much a part of this as Rick is.

Michelle: Bill probably won't even show up!

Chris: She has a point there...

Jon: Yes, after ABWH broke up, he really doesn't talk to me anymore.

Steve: I think that once I tell him what's going on, he will show up.

Chris: Never. I've worked as close as anybody with him, and I really don't think he wants anything to do with us.

Jon: He's so wrapped up in his Jazz music.

Chris: He just put out a new album recently. He's probably busy...

Steve: Nonetheless, I'm calling him. (He gets up and goes back over to the phone.)

Michelle: Please, Jon, tell me what's going on.

Jon: (singing) "Future times will stand and clearly smile of the course of innocence..."

Chris: Did you ever wonder where we get our inspiration for some of our more cosmic songs?

Michelle: I always thought it was Jon, but I think I'm starting to understand.... The cover of Fragile...The Moorglade..."We the travellers of time"...!
