So you want to know about me...the Lisa tour...

The first part of the tour...this is me (and to my right my comrade Chris). This is what I look like most summers...big baggy t-shirt, blonde hair, and sunglasses. I'm not really that short...Chris and I are standing on a hill... end of this part of the tour...move along move along...

Second part of the tour...you get to know my politics. That way if you don't like it the bus can stop and you can just hop off. Most of the news these days is about Osama Bin Laden or Israel VS. Palestine. I don;t know what to think about this whole situation except that I am tired of people from the midle east being deemed "bad people." If terrorism deems a whole people as bad, why weren't young whitemales profiled after Oklahoma City? This is pure racism folks...and it has to stop if we want to be the free country we pretend to be. Stop pointing fingers, stop hating, set an example. This is the only way to stop terrorism.

Now, allow me to further alienate myself from people by telling you I am a feminist, a liberal, and letting you know exactly what this means. My defnition of a feminist is someone who cares about the basic rights of women. It is inconceivable to me that there are women who don't care about their own basic rights, but I do know they exist. To me being a feminist is part of being a woman. Now, I am liberal...to many this is a dirty word. Liberal to me means that I would like to enact change and growth for a better future. I would like to see an end to hate and war, an end to poverty and hunger, and a general attitude of peace and understanding among all humans of the world. I cannot see this happening with a conservative attitude that looks toward the past instead of the future...so to me being a liberal is part of having hope. These certainly are not the only civil rights organisations in the world, but from these you can get to just about every one of them. If anyone would like me to add a link to an organisation in which they are a member please write to me and I will look into your organisation. I want to make note that I kept mostly to the international organisations because we are one people on this world, and we need to realise that to stop the hate and the war that we are seeing today.

You are now entering part 3 of the tour. You have made it through the political jungles and shock of seeing my picture, so now you must really want to know a little about me. I'll start with my profession (I can practically hear the question now "So what do you do for a living?). I am a math and physics teacher in Michigan. I'm starting the physics program from scratch where I teach (they have not had one for a couple of years now) and am looking for supplies and grants to use for the class. If you have any or information leading to any, please let me know. My e-mail and ICQ will be listed at the bottom of the page.

Left: Students at John Glenn High School (where I did my student teaching) are looking at the sun through a 25 cm Dobsonian mount telescope. This may look like a cannon of sorts and John Dobson did get the idea for this type of mount from military artillery mounts. This is a much better use of the idea in my opinion. You can see a small solar filter on the front of the scope, and I am shielding the student's eyes to make it easier for them to view the sun through the eyepiece of the telescope.

As you can see I have an interest in astronomy (NOT ASTROLOGY SO DON'T ASK ME ABOUT MY SIGN!!). I am a member of a local group called The Sunset Astronomical Society based in Saginaw, Michigan. We have a star party every year and this year in August. For more information about this club, astronomy, or the star party go to My Astronomy Page.

I am also a member of a local group called the Tri-Cities Skeptics. This group is interested in getting people to think rationally in the events of extraordinary claims. We are concerned with the irrational claims of homeopathy, UFO's, psychics, dowsers, and the like. Okay, this is the end of the third part of the tour. You may disembark from the bus for the walking and entertainment portion at this time. Please watch your step...the last tour an older woman fell and couldn't get up...of course she went on to make a very famous commercial and I never got any of the proceeds...not even a thank you...

You are now on the fourth and last part of the tour, stretch out, relax, and enjoy yourself. I've told you now what I look like, my political views, and the associations I am part of, now let me give you a little bit more about myself personally. I love music and film, as a result I have constructed a couple of pages dedicated to these subjects. For now you can check out my local band page. I will get to the film page ASAP.
