Genealogical Resources on the 'Net

FamilySearch (Internet genealogy service of the LDS Church)
Includes information about millions of people worldwide, including a large number who are hyperlinked to their families. There are also hundreds of groups of genealogists registered there who are sharing their research efforts with each other. You can also locate a local branch of the Family History Library. And there is a part of the site dedicated to teaching people the best methods for doing family research.

At the FamilySearch site, there is also a link where you can download a free copy of a very good genealogical software program, Personal Ancestral File, which is capable of many functions, including importing and exporting other people's family trees.
