64.)THE CASTOFFS -(1977) Laura's dog Jack dies, and she ignores the new dog that
followed Pa home. Also, the kids meet Kezia Horn, a lady who lives in a make-believe
house, and make friends with her. Mrs. Oleson, of course, is not too fond of the new
neighbor and tries to keep her from joining the church.

65.)TIMES OF CHANGE -(1977) When Pa is invited to attend the Grange in Chicago,
he brings Mary along to meet John Jr. who has begun working for a newspaper there. John
had written her a letter earlier telling her he wished she could attend the catillian
with him but knew it would be impossible. Apparently, he really didn't want her to come
as she finds out later. Also, Pa finds out the Grange isn't all he hoped it would be.

Bit of trivia - Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady from the Brady Bunch) has a guest appearance at the end of this episode as a boy on the train, named Patrick, that Mary meets and seems interested in. The interesting twist to this is that Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary) guest starred in one of the later Brady Bunch episodes before going on to her role as Mary in Little House. In a later episode ("Meet Me At The Fair") another boy takes over the role of Patrick.

skinny dipping. Ellen's mother blames Laura, causing Laura to blame herself. Then, when
Laura brings her flowers one day before school, the grieving mother keeps seeing Ellen
when she looks at Laura. Because of her desire to keep her daughter, she tricks Laura
into going to the cellar for her and then locks her up. She makes Laura wear Ellen's
dress and fixes her hair like Ellen's hair was fixed. Meanwhile, Pa blames the strange
man that lives on Laura's way to Ellen's house for taking Laura. However, Mr. Garvey shot
and injured the man in pursuit and now they can't get anything out of him because he's

67.)THE HANDYMAN-(1977) Pa has started building a kitchen onto the back of the
house when he finds out he has to be out of town for quite awhile. After he is gone,
Ma goes to the partially built kitchen to find a man checking it out. She finds out he
is a handyman sent by Mr. Oleson to see if they need any help finishing the room. She
hires him and he becomes a temporary part of the family with Carrie calling him Uncle
Chris. Mrs. Oleson sticks her nose into their business once again assuming that with
Charles gone that this man and Ma have something going on between them. She, of course,
passes this on to Nellie who decides to use this on Mary and Laura at lunch telling
them that "When the cat's away, the mice do play," and that there is some "monkey
business" going on. This flies right over Laura's head, but Mary understands perfectly
and promptly whacks Nellie across the face. Now, Mary becomes suspicious and starts
looking for things. When she sees something happen that convinces her that Nellie was
right, she confronts Chris and tells him off.

68.)THE WOLVES -(1977) When Ma & Pa leave for a few days, leaving Mary in charge,
Laura and Andy find an injured mama wolf and her babies. They take them home to Andy's
house to nurse them back to health. Mr. Larabee gets really upset about this and wants
to shoot them when he hears from Mrs. Oleson, who heard from Nellie, who bribed Andy
to tell him the secret that there are wolves in the Garvey's barn. Andy overhears Mr.
Larabee discussing his plan to go and kill them and immediately rushes home and moves
the wolves to Laura's barn. Not long after they get them in there, Mary walks outside
to find a pack of wild wolves charging toward the house. She drags Carrie to the barn,
with Laura and Andy already in there, and locks the doors and windows. When the dogs
start to dig through, it's Bandit, and even more so the mama wolf, that help save their

wrong people, including himself(Pa). When they discover the identity of the
"Creeper" they have to decide whether to tell everyone or not considering the
unusual circumstances of the "Creeper's" crime.
