TITLE FOR EPISODE 911 ANNOUNCED!
Call 911! Best Brains has announced the movie to be riffed in episode 911! And keeping with their Sci-Fi Channel tradition of devil/Satan flicks, that movie is...
DEVIL FISH (aka Shark rosso nell'oceano (original title), Red Ocean, Monster Shark, Devouring Waves)
(1984, Italian, color)
Directed by Lamberto Bava (who here uses the pseudonym John Old Jr.)
Starring Michael Sopkiw, Gianni Garko, William Berger, Dagmar Lassander, Iris Peynard, Valentine Monnier, Lawrence Morgant.
The Internet Movie Database says:
Several boats are torn apart, badly wrecked corpses are washed ashore... something horrible is out in the Caribbean sea. The teeth marks on the bodies don't lead to any known animal, so scientist Dr. Stella Dickens suspects it's a so far unknown life form and strives to catch it alive. She doesn't know yet that ruthless scientists have genetically cloned the satanic creature, and won't even stop at murder to cover it's existence.
TV Guide says:
More dredge from the limited talent of Italian schlock horror director Lamberto Bava (DEMONS), this time hiding behind the pseudonym of "John Old, Jr." The simpleminded story involves a mutant creature that takes to munching swimmers along the Florida coast. Sopkiw and a crew of scientists learn the hungry monster is an eons-old predecessor of the modern-day shark. The 40-foot beast also has a little bit of octopus in its genes, and has the potential to reproduce itself literally millions of times. Naturally, the beast's presence spells trouble for the locals, so Garko, a Florida lawman, sets out to destroy the malevolent monster. But no film like this would be complete without a little additional conflict, which comes in the form of bad scientist Berger, who wants to preserve the creature for study, regardless of the cost in human terms. There are some ugly moments between Berger and Garko, but eventually science loses out, as the creature comes to a rather inglorious end.
