Peter is concerned about the falling numbers of young people attending Mass and so he enlists the help of Enda to jazz the Mass up a bit. It works and even Fr. Mac pronounces it a success.
Enda finally persuades Assumpta to go out on a date with him. She insists that they go dutch and she treats it like a night out with a friend - nothing more. There are problems that she is vaguely aware of. Enda's son, Feargal is very fond of the baby-sitter, Aileen and Assumpta has a feeling that there is something more going on than Enda is admitting to. Her suspicions are given added weight when Peter seems very concerned about her and asks her if she is OK. He knows what is going on but cannot betray the confidence although he wants to warn Assumpta not to get involved.
Niamh is mad for Assumpta to go out with Enda
but she is furious when Brian catches Aileen and Enda
kissing on video and she tries to get Assumpta out of bed
at sparrow's cough so that she can tell her but Assumpta
refuses to take notice of Niamh and she goes back to sleep.
Later, she finally gets around to watching the tape and it
all clicks into place. She tells Enda that it is not going
to work between them. She is not at all upset as she now
has a cast iron excuse not to go out with Enda and it gets
Niamh off her back. Peter gets the message that it is over.
