Assumpta is still finding it difficult to talk to Peter
and this is only made worse by the arrival of one of the
contestants for Quigley's beauty contest. The girl, Naomi,
spends a lot of time chatting to Peter who is too polite
to walk away from her. Assumpta has a touch of the green-
eyed monster and she refuses to get involved in the festival,
although she is upset when Peter doesn't even try to talk
her round, dismissing her as somebody who has no interest
in the community. Meanwhile, after Brian has been particularly
rude to Siobhan, Brendan offers her some comfort and, after
years of friendship, they end up spending the night together.
Brendan is worried that Siobhan may be getting ideas of
something more permanent and so he enlists the help of Peter,
who, in turn, enlists Assumpta who's black mood finally
dissolves when she sees the Peter that she cares about - the
Peter who cares about people. She talks to Siobhan who turns
out to be totally preoccupied with solving the mystery of
Naomi's arrival in Ballykay. Brendan and Siobhan finally
talk and Siobhan tells Brendan that she just wants to remain
friends. Peter and Assumpta finally seem to have made up.
