Siobhan discovers that she is pregnant for Brendan and she asks Assumpta's advice. Assumpta says that she helped a *friend* through the same problem at college. The *friend* had a termination and, although she regrets it every day, she feels she made the right decision. After talking to Assumpta, Fr Clifford and Brendan, Siobhan decides to have the baby.
Meanwhile, things are increasingly strained between Assumpta and Leo. Leo is feeling the strain of being in the village and, although only joking, constantly makes sarcastic remarks about life in BallyK. Assumpta doesn't see the funny side and is sick of him running down the village. She accuses him of not getting properly involved in life in BallyK. He, in turn says it's because she keeps him at arms length and he can't understand why she married him.
Leo confronts Peter and asks him is he on a hiding to nothing, trying to make his marriage work. Peter pretends not to understand him, but it is clear to both of them that Leo knows what is going on between his wife and Peter. Assumpta becomes aware of the tension between the two men and realises that Leo knows.
Niamh sees Leo putting his suitcases in the car and he tells her that he is leaving. Quoting Assumpta, a cosmopolitan, sophisticated person like him can't live in a village like BallyK and he goes. Niamh attacks Assumpta, accusing her of just letting Leo go and not caring about him. Assumpta agrees that Leo does deserve an explanation.
