Well, again, they've managed to miraculously 'disappear' Peter and Assumpta for yet another episode. Assumpta has gone to Dublin to catch up with Leo to give him the explanation that he deserves.

Padraig - I wonder if Assumpta caught up with Leo yet?
Brendan - No. 'Cos if she had, you'd hear the screams from here!

Peter has gone home to Manchester to attend to his dying mother. Aww! Sorry, I must apologise. My anger at the writers having left them out of the third episode of their last ever series has left me in sarcastic mood. But, I shall try to hold my peace. Here are the details.

A newsflash announces that the winning ticket in the Lotto (lottery to British readers!) was bought in Kathleen's shop. The jackpot was 6 million pounds (just as a note, the Irish lottery never reaches that much as their input is always smaller. Less people to buy the tickets, see? The most it ever gets to is about 2 million and that's a big event) so the village goes mad trying to find out who the lucky winner is, assuming that it is a resident of BallyK. Everybody is under suspicion and people are falling over themselves accusing their friends and family of hiding their winnings. Brian is desperate to find the winner, hoping to pursuade them to invest in his business.

Ambrose is given an undercover assignment, much Niamh's dismay. She is back looking after the bar again in Assumpta's abscence and is worried about Ambrose coming in at all hours of the night, drunk as a sack, smelling like the inside of a beer barrel and wearing leather! However, Ambrose surprises them all and manages to arrest the leader of a notorious drugs ring.

Kevin hears the news on the radio that the lottery winner was a tourist and everybody suddenly becomes friends again. Meanwhile, Siobhan and Brendan are having trouble dealing with their forthcoming off-spring, or rather the new turn that their rather casual relationship has been forced to take.

Actually, to be fair, this was still a good episode and if the fourth series is anything like this, I'll be moderately happy. However, having just found out that Peter is not in next week's episode again, I have to admit to being on the point of explosion! 'The Waiting Game'? How very apt!
