Scene opens with Sonny sitting in a limo staring straight ahead. Jason walks into the parking garage and opens the door of the limo. He sits down inside and closes the door.
Sonny: "You never went home?"
Jason: "Ah....I was on my way to the penthouse when I got a call from you."
Sonny: "Where's Brenda?"
Jason: "Cosmopolitan. Bridal suite." (Sonny looks at Jason) "I know....I know. That's what she wanted."
Sonny: "You stayed with her?"
Jason: "Yes.....outside. She said she wanted to be alone."
Sonny: "So what happened at the church?"
Jason: (sighs) "She was already at the altar Sonny."
Sonny: "What do you mean?"
Jason: "She went up alone, she thought you were going to be there."
Sonny: (sighs and shakes his head) "She was always like that. If she believed hard enough, if she really thought she could do something, I....I....just. I would always tell her, it's a good way to break your heart."
Jason: "Well, ah, she was smiling when she turned around. I guess.....I guess she thought I was you." (Sonny starts shaking his head) "She asked if you were hurt, and I said you were fine. Then Mike.....Mike asked if you were coming.....and I said 'No'."
Sonny: "In front of everybody?"
Jason: "Yes. I guess I could have grabbed her arm and dragged her away."
Sonny: "No, no.....you don't....."
Jason: "Yes?"
Sonny: "Tell me the rest."
Jason: (sighs) "Everybody left." (Sonny nods his head) "And I told her.....just what you said to say.....she believed me."
Sonny: "She hates me?" (Jason reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out the diamond bracelet and the anklet that Sonny had given Brenda. Sonny pulls out his hand and Jason places them in it) "Well.......you know, it's better this way."
Jason: "She hates me too."
Sonny: (Sonny turns away and wipes away a tear rolling down his cheek) "I don't care. I'm asking you to protect her, because you're the only one that I trust with her life. They can think that I'm sending away for her. She can hurt herself. You know...how....she does really bad.....crazy things when she is in pain, and I don't want....."
Jason: "Sonny, I won't let anything happen to Brenda."
Sonny: "Thank you."
Jason: "Where are you going?"
Sonny: (pauses for a long time) "Puerto Rico. I figured if I can't disappear on my honeymoon....I might as well do it on a business trip."
Jason: "Right. Does Carlos know that you are coming?"
Sonny: "Ah....I'm going to take some meetings, check out the casinos, leave on a flight back to Port Charles and never get there."
Jason: "Yeah, well...I cleaned out two more.....two more accounts this morning. The last three will go next week."
Sonny: "Forget about it."
Jason: "Nah....you need the money."
Sonny: "Not that much."
Jason: "It was yours to begin with."
Sonny: "No, no. Now see the thing is you need the money now."
Jason: "I got plenty of it."
Sonny: "No."
Jason: "I want you to be safe."
Sonny: "It's not up to you." (suddenly they both stop and look at each other. Sonny smiles) "You know what we just did? Full circle. You've learned everythig I have to teach."
Jason: "You have changed my life.....I don't think that happens to many people."
Sonny: "Well, you've done the same for me. Don't you die on me."
Jason: (trying not to cry) "No, don't you die on me."
Sonny: (shakes his head) "Tell Peter I'm ready."
Sonny and Jason sit in silence as they both look away from each other. Jason opens the door and gets out of the limo. He leaves the garage. Camera closes in on Sonny's face staring straight ahead. The scene goes black.......
