Scene opens with Sonny & Lily waiting for Robin & Jason to arrive for dinner at the penthouse. Robin & Jason come in and soon Lily and Robin leave to make some salad, leaving Sonny and Jason in the living room.
Sonny: (gets up from couch) "You want some wine?"
Jason: "Sure. Thanks." (gets up and follows Sonny to bar)
Sonny: "So.....how you been?"
Jason: "Oh.....pretty good."
Sonny: "Yeah?"
Jason: Yeah."
Sonny: "You find a job yet?"
Jason: "No. No. Not exactly. I'm not ah..." (laughs) "exactly well trained. What I can do doesn't seem to interest me much." (Sonny hands him a glass of wine) "Thanks." (takes a sip)
Sonny: "My offer is still open if you're interested."
Jason: "Man I'd love to work for you.....but it wouldn't be fair."
Sonny: "Why not?"
Jason: "Well anyone who wants to be anonymous shouldn't have me hanging around. I'm not real good at figuring out which risks are acceptable and which aren't. I mean besides, the Quartermaines are never going to leave me alone and why should you have to deal with that?"
Sonny: "You let me worry about the Quartermaines." (they walk back towards couch) "I cover a lot of territory Jason. You know why? Because I got good instincts and I know who I can trust." (Jason sits down)
Jason: "Why me?"
Sonny: "Like I told you before, you're smart. You keep your mouth shut and you listen. Which is rare. And you look right through people. I can use that."
Jason: "How?"
Sonny: "I think I'm gonna start you out as a runner first, which is kind of a courier."
Jason: "Like the guy who got shot?!?"
Sonny: "Yeah, but he was stupid. You're not.....anyway you're not gonna bump into anything dangerous at first. You're gonna work your way up just like any other job. Like I said you got a rule here. When you work for me you're invisible. Alright?" (Jason nods) "You're gonna take any risks, you take it on your own time. Think you can handle that?"
Jason: (nods) "Yeah, as long as you deal with the Quartermaines."
Sonny: (smiles) "Like I told you before. Quartermaines have no power in my world."
Jason: "Then that's where I want to be."
Sonny: "Good. Good. Then you start tomorrow. 10 a.m. You'll meet a guy named Harry Silver. He's got an office at 357 Bristol St. You wanna write this down?"
Jason: "No, no. I'm good. I can memorize this."
Sonny: "Ok. Then I guess I'll have to remember that. Welcome aboard." (reaches out to shake Jason's hand)
Jason: "Thanks." (gets up and shakes Sonny's hand) "I won't let you down."
Sonny: "I know."
