The Possession

Strange things had been happening in Hazzard County lately over the past few days. Strange and scary things. It had  all started one week ago when a sight in the Hazzard hills was being excavated for a housing development. The work crew hit upon  what appeared to be an ancient burial ground. Historians were called in to look at the site. The development plan was stopped and the site was to be further exuviated for research. They could not place the symbols they found on the coffins, nor the artifacts they found around the site.
After a couple days they found a strange book written in an unknown language. Then another coffin was found further away from the others. It was different from all the other coffins, and some workers were frightened by it. On the coffin was and inscription that was written in the same language as that in the book. So they decided to call in a decipher, who was to arrive in Hazzard in the next day.
Late that night old man Murphy's cattle was slaughtered. The carcases were stripped clean to the bone. The cattle had been out in his back forty. Many of the citizens in Hazzard claimed to hear the howling of a wolf that night, even though there had been no wolves in Hazzard for close to two decades.
The decephier arrived and looked at the inscription on the coffin. He placed the language to be that of an ancient pagan sect called Lazirat, a sect that was thought to only be a myth. He read the inscription on the coffin it read:

"When the moon is full of blood and the howl is heard, this is the time that he will rise and take new form"

The decephier decided to take the book to the Hazzard hotel to read it. They decided to keep what they had found at the site a secret from the town, as not to cause a mass panic. Then they were looking at the calender and noticed that the next night was a harvest moon.
"We can't let anyone know what we found here. I think it would cause hysteria, and there is no need to do so, over some old inscription that's meant to do nothing more then to scare people away." said the guy in charge of the sites exuviation.
"Yes sir, I will be sure everyone here knows not to release any information to anyone outside."the supervisor replied.
That night more cattle in Hazzard was slaughtered in the same way the others had been.
The next morning the Dukes were sitting around the table at breakfast when it came for the radio that more cattle had been killed.
"Wonder what's been killing all that cattle?" Daisy said.
"It's properly just wolves." Bo said.
"There ain't been a wolf in Hazzard for close to two decades though." Jesse said.
"Maybe its just a pack of wild dogs. They can do a lot of damage."Luke said.
"Well I heard that a lot of the workers got scared away from that site, up in the hills."Daisy said.
"Its just an old Indian burial ground." Luke said.
"Yeah, but haven't you heard that howling at night, its so chilling."Daisy said.
"Maybe its werewolves." Bo said with a laugh.
"That ain't funny Bo." Daisy said with an upset look on her face.
     "Sorry." Bo said.
The boys left for the day. Luke went to see an old Marine buddy in Capitol City for a couple hours and Bo went to Greenriver to get a couple parts for the General and visit a friend.  Later that night around six o clock Bo called home to say he was going to be a couple hours late. Luke answered the phone back at the farm.
     "Hello." Luke said.
     "Hey there cousin." Bo said.
"Thought you were going to be home by now." Luke said.
"Yeah well the General is really acting up so I'm gonna put in these parts. I'll be a couple hours late getting home." Bo said.
"Well you take it easy." Luke said Watch out for them werewolves."he added jokingly.
     "Cute." Bo responded.
Around nine o clock Bo got the General fixed and was heading on home. He was heading home on Cottontail lane, about one mile away from the dig site, when the General's engine kicked out.
"Oh come on General, don't do this to me." Bo said.
Bo thought he heard something outside in the bushes, he looked out towards the bushes but didn't see anything. He grabbed the flashlight from the glove box and got out to look at the engine.  Bo looked up at the moon, it was a full moon, and being a harvest moon, it appeared to be red in colour. Bo heard a howl, of a wolf.
Suddenly something came crashing out of the woods next to him, he turned to see what it was. All he saw was the blur of something moving very quickly, it struck him. Bo fell backwards, his head struck the General. Darkness consumed his mind as he fell into unconsciousness. A wolf like beast stood next to his body, a ghostly figure immerged from the bushes and stood beside it, it places a hand on the beasts head and stroked it.
"Good job my pet." the figure said, looking down at Bo's unconscious form.
At the hotel the decipher was deciphering the book, and he felt a chill fill the room. The beast appeared in front of the man and he can see a figure in the shadows. He tried to scream in terror but was frozen in fear and could not scream.
"You have something of mine, and I want it back." the figure said in a low commanding voice.
The man tried to scream again but in vain, he still could not make a sound. He then saw a hand out stretch from the shadows, towards him. The hand began to slowly raise, and he could feel himself start to float into the air. He was filled with horror as he watched the hand form into a fist. He could feel his lungs been crushed, he tried to gasp for air, but his efforts were futile, within moments he was dead. The hand retreated back into the darkness and the man's body fell to the floor, with a silent thud. The beast drug the body to the figure in the shadows who drains it of blood and then tosses to body to the beast who tears it apart. The book floats to the figure in the shadows.
Bo came pulling in at the Duke farm at about eleven thirty, and then he got slowly out of the car and went inside.
"Where have you been?" Jesse said relived to see Bo home.
Bo didn't respond and just walked past.
"Uncle Jesse asked you a question." Luke said grabbing Bo by the shoulders as he went to walk past, but immediately pulled his hand away when he felt how ice cold Bo was.
     "Your freezing." Luke said worriedly.
"Sorry I am late. Look I'm tired I just want to go to bed." Bo said not even looking up.  "Well okay. We'll talk about this in the morning then." Jesse said.
The next morning they got up and were just starting to talking  about what had happened last night. They had the radio on and heard about the murder that happened last night. They heard that there was no blood anywhere in the room and that the man's body had been tore apart, and there was no sign of visible entry, all the doors and windows were locked. The body had been discovered by the maid who had gone in to clean the room. They said the only thing missing from the room was a large old book.
Back at the site, they also heard about the murder. They were thankful that nobody knew about the coffin or the fact that its seal had been broke last night, and that nobody had broken it.
"That is so horrible. Now whatever has been killing the cattle is killing people." Daisy said there was a touch of fear in her voice.
"Yeah. It was bad before but this seems to be getting worse." Luke said.
"I think maybe we ougtta leave town for a few days until all this stops."Jesse said.  Bo just sat at the table his head hung down, not talking. His eyes were dark and expressionless, his face was pale.
"Bo are you okay?"Luke asked concernedly.
Bo did not respond he just got up from the table.
     "Wait Bo . . ." Jesse said.
Bo didn't stop he just went outside to the General and took the book out.
"I'll go after him." Luke said.
"I'm going with you." Daisy said.
When they got outside Bo was walking away from the farm.
"Where are you going?" Luke asked.
Bo stopped and turned around slowly.
"That's the book they were talking about on the radio. Why do you have it?" Daisy asked.  "Bo what's going on here?" Luke asked.
Then Bo responded in a deep barely recognizable voice, "This is no concern of yours, mortals."
Daisy look at Bo, shocked by the harshness and difference in his voice. She noticed all the blue had left Bo's eyes they were black and filled what anger and hate, his face was pale.
"Daisy get into the house." Luke said, and then turned back towards Bo.
Daisy nodded, she quickly moved back inside.
Bo just stood there expressionlessly.
"Bo put that book down." Luke said.
"I told you this does not concern you mortal. The one you know as Bo no longer exists only I Valdis Hellercto exist once again."
Bo raised the book pointing it at Luke. A blast shot out striking Luke sending him flying backwards. Luke lay on the ground stunned. Bo moved forward his hand beginning to out stretch. Luke felt as though his lungs were being crushed and he began to gasp for breath. Bo's eyes suddenly changed back to normal.
"No I will not let you hurt him." Bo said his voice was barely a whisper and was trembling and weak sounding.
Darkness suddenly consumed Bo's mind and he collapsed to the ground.
From the woods the beast appeared. Jesse came from the house carrying a cross the beast started to back away, then he flung the cross at the beast striking it. The beast howled in agony then burst into flames then turned into a pile of cinders which then vanished. Jesse helped Luke up. At first he just stood there stunned and then he saw Bo on the ground.
"Bo . . ." Luke said, his voice filled with worry, he rushed over to Bo's side.
Bo was lay on the ground unconscious.
"What's going on here?"  Jesse asked his voice fraught with worry.
"I don't know . . . it was like Bo was someone else." Luke said.
They decided they could not take Bo to the hospital but they took him to the dig site along with the book. Figuring that is where the problem started and maybe there would be someone there who could help Bo. They told them what happened.
"He claimed his name was Valdis Hellercto." Luke said.
"That was the name on the coffin." the supervisor said.
     "What coffin?" Luke asked.
They told the Dukes about the coffin and the inscription on the coffin. There was a preacher at the site.
"Some how the evil spirt must have entered him. We will have to preform an exeorsuim to free him of the evil spirt or he could be lost forever." the preacher said.
They took Bo into the preachers tent and tied him to the bed. Then Bo awoke the spirt of Valdis Hellercto became enraged.
"Untie me now mortals or you shall suffer."
"I want to speak to Bo Duke." the preacher said calmly.
"He no longer exists. I am in control now."
"And who are you?" Preacher asked.
"I am Valdis Hellercto. I am the demon master of the Lazirat sect. GIVE ME MY BOOK!" Bo said his voice cold and demanding.
"What is so special about that book?" the preacher asked.
"You ask to many questions mortal. You are a fool, that book is the Necromadon." Bo said his voice cold and deep.
"You shall never have that book." the preacher said.
The preacher began to try to cast the demon out of Bo's body. After a couple hours of battling they both grew exhausted. The preacher could tell that not only was Valdis weaking but Bo was as well. He knew he had to stop or Bo would be too weak to fight for his soul and Valdis would win. He knew Bo could also die. Valdis was weak, but countinued to struggle. The preacher recite one more passage then  Bo passed out.
"Is the demon gone?"Jesse asked with hope and worry in his voice.
"No the demon is still inside of him. It has weakened though." the preacher said
"If it is weak then why did you stop?" Jesse asked.
"If I were to continue now it could kill Bo, however  the demon would still live. Or leave him to weak to fight for his soul then only Valdis would remain." the preacher said.
He  left the tent to go and rest, to prepare for the next battle. So did everyone except for Jesse. He went knelt down beside Bo.
"Bo?"  Jesse voice full of concern, as he brushed a strand of Bo's blonde hair away from his eyes.
Bo opened his eyes they still were completely black.
"You are an old fool. Your Bo no longer exists, he belongs to me."
"No. I will not allow you to have him." Jesse said.
"You are to weak to stop me old man."
Jesse felt a pain in chest. The others had heard the commotion in the tent and came running in. The preacher tossed holy water on to Bo the demon screeched pain, and then Bo fell unconscious again. They took  Jesse into another tent.
     "What happened?" Luke asked.
"It appears the demon is a lot stronger then I had thought." the preacher said. "We may already be too late to save your cousin from this evil."
Daisy snuck out of the tent quietly and went back into the tent with Bo.
"Bo." Daisy said knelling down by his side, tears streaked her cheeks.
"Daisy?" Bo said waking up, his voice soft, he slowly opened his eyes.
Daisy noticed that Bo's eyes were back to their normal colour.
"Oh Bo, I was so worried." Daisy said. " Are you okay?" she asked, as she brushed the tears from her cheeks.
"I think so . . . I don't know, I can't really move." Bo said slightly raising his head. "Could you untie these ropes?" he asked.
"Sure of course" Daisy said untiing the ropes.
Bo attacked her, as soon as she had untied the ropes. His eyes grew dark and fangs appeared. Daisy screamed in horror. She tried to run but found she was frozen in fear.
Luke and the preacher came rushing in when they heard Daisy's scream. Bo had Daisy held from behind and her head tipped over to one side.
     "Bo stop."Luke said.
Bo looked up at Luke and smiled darkly, then turned his attention back to Daisy.
The preacher began to say a prayer, then Bo flung Daisy across the room, and tried to advance on the preacher, but he continued saying the prayer.
"SILENCE!" Bo said his voice harsh and demanding.
The preacher continued ignore the demon's demands. Bo dropped to the ground, drifting back in to unconscious.
"Help me tie him back down."the preacher said.
Luke helped him tie Bo back to the bed. They took Daisy into the other tent with Jesse. They went back to the other tent. Luke just stood there and looked at Bo.
"What was that all about?" Luke said.
"The demon is strong but is growing weak. He needs blood to regain some of his lost strength." the preacher said
"What about Bo?" Luke asked his voice full of worry.
"Its hard to say he is undoubtedly weak from all this. It is hard to say if he even still exists or if he has been lost. We have to pray for the best, believe that Bo is still alive. I have to go to prepare for the rest of the battle that lies ahead. I want you to watch him, and do not fall for any of the demons tricks, he is a cunning demon and will try to trick you into releasing him" the preacher said and then left the tent.
Once the preacher was gone Luke went and sat by Bo side and took a hold of his hand.
     "Bo wake up." Luke said.
Slowly Bo opened his eyes. "When are you mortals going to accept that Bo no longer exists. Only I exist."
"Never. It is not true, Bo still exists. Now I am going to make a deal with you. If you allow me to talk to my cousin, I'll give you something you want. No tricks" Luke said
"What could you possibly give me?"
     "Blood." Luke said.
"Fine we have ourselves a deal." Bo said smiling.
Bo's body began to shiver, his eyes closed.
"Bo, are you okay?" Luke said, his voice filled with worry about his younger cousin.
"Luke?" Bo asked as he slowly opened his eyes. His voice was soft and very weak sounding.
"It's okay Bo, I'm right here." Luke said trying to hide his fear. "Are you okay?" he asked concernedly.
Bo clenched his eyes tight as pain shoot through his whole body, then he reopened his eyes. "I feel like I been hit by a truck." Bo said trying to hide his fear and pain from Luke.
Luke forced a fake smile, he could tell that Bo was in serve pain, he knew that Bo was trying to hide that. Luke just decided to not saying anything against it, he  didn't want to let Bo know how terrified he was, and how afraid he was that he might lose him.
"I'm sorry for everything I did. It's  just . . . I can't control what I am doing." Bo said his voice growing weaker sounding.
Bo clenched his eyes shut in pain again, then slowly reopened them. He didn't want to tell Luke to cause him to worry more, he could tell that Luke was very upset. Bo felt another sharp pain shot through his body his clenched his shut.
"Bo don't worry about, everyone knows you never meant to do those things. You just hang in there we're gonna get through this, you hear me? I'm not about to lose you, you hear me?"Luke said, he wanted to believe what he was saying himself, even though he knew they could lose Bo. He didn't think that he could deal with that. Bo had always beeen more like a brother then a cousin to him, and the thought of losing Bo terrified him.
"Yeah." Bo said and as he slowly opened his eyes again. Bo's eyes went dark again. "Times up." Bo said, with an evil smile.
Luke then took out his pocket knife and cut his right wrist, he flinched at the pain. He held his wrist to Bo's mouth. The demon drank his blood eagerly. The demon stopped and screeched in pain. The preacher tried to run in when he heard the screech, but the demon had sealed the tent. The demon struggled and the broke free from the ropes and attacked Luke. He sent Luke flying across the tent.
Bo stood the in the middle of the tent, the demon left Bo's body and Bo fell limply to the ground. Bo  lay on the ground not moving.
"BO!" Luke called out worried that Bo was dead.
He went over to Bo, and saw he was alive, he just sat Bo up and held him in his arms.
"Come on cousin wake up. Don't leave me. I don't want to lose you" Luke said
"Neither do I." Bo said as he woke up.
Luke smiled, he noticed that Bo's eyes they were  their normal colour, but look full of pain.
     "YOU TRICKED ME!"the demon shouted.
"What do you mean? I kept up my end of our deal." Luke said looking at the demon.
A strong wind filled the tent. The demon floated into the air and burst into a bright flame and was destroyed. The preacher got in just in time to see the demon destroyed.
Everything that had happened finally took it's toll on Bo and he fell back into unconsciousness.
"What happened? How did you destroy him?" the preacher asked
"I made a deal with him to be able to talk to Bo. I said I would give him blood and I did the demon left him and was destroyed." Luke said.
     "You gave him your blood?"
     "Yeah."
The preacher stood looking perplexed by what had happened. Then a look of realization of what must have happened came over his face.
"It must have been that when the demon drank your blood but there was already a bond, between you and your cousin. A bond strong then its bond on your cousin's soul. The goodness of that bond  must have destroyed the demon. This is a rare case indeed." the preacher said.
"Well I don't care how that demon was destroyed  all I care is that Bo is going to be okay."Luke said.
The preacher smiled. "Yes, that is the main thing."
Luke was still holding Bo in his arms. Bo was still unconsious and very weak.  As soon as the demon was destroyed Jesse and Daisy immediately recovered.
Bo was weakened by the whole ordeal and had to spend a couple days in the hospital and a few weeks in bed at home in order to recover completely. The preacher documented the case. The whole site was filled in again and was never to be developed again. Of course everyone forgave Bo for what happened because, he never meant to do any of it and they all knew that it was the demon that did it, not Bo.
