SYNOPSIS

Sprawling Madrid County, California was the setting for this contemporary Western/police drama. Sheriff Sam Cade, based in the town of Madrid, was responsible for law enforcement throughout the county. He was assisted by veteran deputy J.J. Jackson and three younger deputies, Arlo, Rudy and Pete. Sandra Ego initially had the role of police dispatcher but was replaced early on by Betty Ann Carr. Both of them were American Indians. The role of Pete, one of Cade's young deputies, was played by the son of Glenn Ford, the show's star.
