EThough
they've tried a number of times, including once in Dawson's bedroom, Pacey and
Jen can't seem to close the deal. Pacey's presence in Dawson's bedroom arouses
his suspicions, as does the condom he's left behind. Meanwhile, Pacey's
desperate to get his math grades up, and Joey agrees to help him on the
condition that he help her - by ballroom dancing with her in the hopes that
Joey will get scholarship money. But when Dawson and Jen show up at the dance
class, Pacey sees Dawson's jealousy, and realizes Dawson thinks he and Joey are
having an affair. They argue a bit before Jen and Pacey make a hasty exit - and
wind up making out in the coat closet. As they kiss, Dawson and Joey interrupt
them, and Jen and Pacey realize their plan simply wasn't meant to be. Though
Dawson's relieved that it's not Joey that Pacey was involved with, Pacey warns
him that one of these days, someone else will come along for Joey - and he's
going to have to be able to accept that. When Jen asks Pacey what it is about
Joey that draws boys in, Pacey protests that he's not interested in Joey, in
spite of the dance teacher's opinions to the contrary. Later, Joey apologizes
to Pacey for her overreaction to his relationship with Jen.
