"Happy Days" Episode: "A Date With Fonzie"

Synopsis:
In this episode of "Happy Days", Richie has hit a slump in the dating department, and the fact that it happens to be Valentine's Day doesn't help him. Richie then asks for Fonzie's help on setting him up with a girl for Saturday night. Fonzie sets himself and Richie up with a dobule date with two girls who work at the Shotz Brewery: Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney.

Trivia-Tidbits:
- This is the first appearance of Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as Laverne and Shirley on "Happy Days."

- Fonzie's date is Laverne while Richie is set up Shirley.

- Ron Howard and Cindy Williams had previously worked together in the nostalgic George Lucas movie, American Graffiti, which inspired the success of "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley."

-Right after this "Happy Days" episode was shot, the studio audience was asked to stick around while a pilot for "Laverne & Shirley" was filmed. Fonzie's apartment set was used as Laverne & Shirley's apartment, while Garry Marshall brought some things from home to decorate it. This filmed pilot was never aired.

- Differences between this episode and the "Laverne & Shirley" series:

- Shirley's character is a bit more "loose." She also has a peculiar accent that she only posesses in the "Happy Days" appearances and only in the pilot episode of "L&S."

- In this "Happy Days" appearance, Laverne & Shirley own a car with no insurance. In the series, Laverne & Shirley don't get their own car until the second season premiere of "Drive, She Said."
