Synopsis:
In the very first episode of "Laverne & Shirley," Shotz Brewey bottle-cappers and best friends, Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, are invited by the boss' nephew, Tad Shotz, to the Shotz formal society party. Shirley is excited about going while Laverne finds it insulting.

Trivia Tid-bits:
- The title for the show is "Laverne DeFazio & Shirley Feeney."

- This is the first appearance of Henry Winkler guest starring as Fonzie from "Happy Days."

- The episode marks the debut of Michael McKean and David L. Lander as Lenny & Squiggy.

- As the same goes for L&S appearances on "Happy Days", Shirley has a strange accent in this episode (similar to Laverne's). For the rest of the series, Shirley has no such accent.

- Shirley's message in Laverne's yearbook:
To Laverne:
"If heaven, we don't meet,
Hand in hand, we'll bear the heat.
And if it ever gets too hot,
Pepsi-Cola hits the spot."

- Shirley sings the song, "High Hopes" to keep her going.
