Welcome to Gobrianna's Articuno Shrine!

These pages may take a while to load, but I think it's worth it. Thanks for your patience.

Hmm, I must be quite popular to have my own shrine created by Gobrianna herself, third of the Elite Four of the OPL. (I understand that's a pretty high title, for a human.) But it's only what a legendary marvel such as myself deserves. Greetings, I am Articuno. What, did you expect me to coo "Arti arti?" Sorry to disappoint you, but I prefer an intelligent conversation. So would you please pick your jaw up off the floor? (So much for intelligent conversation.) No need for alarm. I made sure some things stayed out of the legends. I do have the right to keep some of my secrets to myself, you know. Anyway, I suppose you're wondering how Gobrianna and I became personal acquaintances. That is a long story. I'm sure she'll write about it someday. You'll probably see it in her fanfiction section sooner or later. Suffice to say, she convinced me to leave my precious sanctuary in the icy caves of a mountaintop I choose not to name at this time, and emerge from the legends into reality for you humans. Something about destiny, or quests or some such--

Okay Articuno, that's enough. Boy, does that bird have a mouth on it. (Or should I say a beak?) I think I will pick up the story from here. After I finally talked Articuno into returning from that mountain, it declared it intended to stay with me. That's why Articuno is the Guardian of the Path of Decision, as you've seen if you've investigated my Fantasy Badge page. But this shrine wasn't to tell you my life story; that's what fanfiction is for. I created this shrine to share with everyone all the information and images I could find on my favorite Pokémon: Articuno!

Articuno's name is pronounced: ARE-TI-KOO-NO.

Articuno is one of three legendary bird Pokémon. The other two are: Zapdos and Moltres.

The Pokédex states that Articuno is: "a legendary bird Pokémon that is said to appear to doomed people who are lost in icy mountains."

Here is how you can catch Articuno: On Seafoam Island there are large rocks and black holes covering the ground of the different levels. Push these rocks into the holes and it will stop the current of the water in the levels below. Follow the rocks down the holes. Now you are on the lower level too. With the calmer water, you must use the Surf ability to search around the fifth level down for an island with an image of a bird on it. Articuno is this bird. You'll only have one chance to catch this Pokémon, so you might want to use an Ultra Ball to ensure success. And ALWAYS save before battling a tough Pokémon or trainer.

When you catch this legendary bird, it is at Level 50.

Do you know what Articuno's name means? The "Artic" is from the word arctic, and "uno" is the Spanish word for number one. Notice: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres. Uno, dos, tres. One, two, three. Is that cool or what?

Articuno is strong against grass Pokémon, ground Pokémon, flying, dragon, fighting and bug. It's weak against fire Pokémon, water Pokémon, ice and electric.

Articuno is one of the best Pokémon to take up against Lance, the last of the Elite Four. All his Pokémon are weak against ice Pokémon.

The TM's that work on Articuno are: 2, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 31, 32, 33, 34, 39, 43, 44 and 50.

The only HM that works on Articuno is: 2.

Articuno's Japanese name translated into English is Freezer.
