In 1968, a group of dedicated fans forced the NBC to renew a little-known show called STAR TREK for its third season. Over 30 years later, that show is a cultural phenomenon.
Our goals are a little less lofty, but essentially this is about the same thing. PEOPLE-POWER.
The Adventures of Sinbad is an action/adventure/fantasy television show that was originally shown on the network, UPN. It was officially cancelled by Pearson Entertainment on April 1, 1998. Recently, the international market (i.e. outside the United States and Canada) has been lucky enough to see the show for the first time and a growing legion of fans has resulted from it. Two unofficial fans clubs are active with a combined total of over 250 members. It wasn't one of UPNs highest ranking shows, but it held its own. But because of its syndication status, and not a lot of advertising about it, few people have discovered it.
With only 2 seasons,The Adventures of Sinbad was cancelled for a very weak reason...business politics. Pearson Entertainment bought out All American Television, one of the main producers of the show and immediately began trying to change the show, which falls into the same genre category as Hercules and Xena, into basically a Baywatch in Baghdad. Lack of advertising of show teasers, media promotions and merchandising, did not help promote the show either.
This site is about letting The Powers That Be know we fans want The Adventures of Sinbad back. It's about letting other potential viewers know what they're missing, and about raising the international profile of show. At the very least, Ed Naha, the Creator and Executive Producer, Zen Gesner(Sinbad), George Buza(Doubar), Tim Progosh(Firouz), Mariah Shirley(Bryn), Oris Erhuero(Rongar), and the writers and crew in CapeTown, South Africa deserve to know how much the fans support the work they did.
Are you willing to join us in an organized campaign to raise AoS interest and get the message to UPN, Pearson and Alliance/Atlantis, local affiliates, the advertisers and the media that we want the show back?
This site makes it REALLY easy for you.
THE PLAN
After much discussion, workshopping and planning, a group of us have gotten together to establish the most effective way to achieve our goals. We will do this by implementing a series of easy, short-term objectives. But we all need to contribute to make this work. WE NEED YOU.
We're using the word "support" rather than "save" because we feel this is a more positive approach. There is a lot of work to be done.
Don't let The Adventures of Sinbad become another Nowhere Man or Alien Nation a Starman or even a Babylon 5. It's easy. JOIN THE FIGHT NOW!
