Cordelia was awakened in what she assumed was the next morning by the door creaking open. Spike felt he had to give her some credit for her courage in trying to fight back, and for dealing with vampires whatsoever. He admired the fiery spirit she seemed to have, even though he could tell that underneath she was as scared as anyone would have been. He gave her the room he had put Drusilla’s stuff in, and decided to give her a breakfast, and to take it to her himself. He managed to rob a grocery store and got some bread, coffee and peanut butter. He opened the door to the room to see her scrambling up from the bed. Cordelia felt pure wonder as he brought in some food for her to eat. She had expected to be treated terribly, but she found herself in a decent room, with food for breakfast being brought in by a really hot guy. ~WHAT? Did I just think that? He’s not even a guy!~ But she did look up at him as he handed her the food, and smiled. “Thought you might like something to eat. I hope this is okay.” Spike said “It’s fine, thanks. Uh… if you don’t mind me asking, why am I here?” She asked, when he showed no sign of getting ready to leave the room. “Oh, you know, kidnapping of the Slayer’s friend, trap, same old.” Cordelai sat down on the bed and took a sip of the coffee. “Well, then, you have the wrong girl. We aren’t exactly friends anymore.” “Really?” he asked with concern. ~For me or for his plans?~ Cordelia asked herself. “Well, yeah.” ~What the hell, might as well tell him, nothing else to do here.~ “When we rescued them from the factory, Oz and I saw Xander and Willow kissing.” “That’s bloody terrible! What an ass!” “Yeah… So I’ve been sorta boycotting then for a while.” “Well, I’m sure they still care enough to notice you’re missing, then come get you.” “I hope so.” They both sat on the bed for a minute in silence as Cordelia ate. It gave them both time to think. ~ I really have to get these thoughts out of my head. He doesn’t really care that Xander and Willow kissed. He just wants to kill Buffy. Why is he bewing so nice to me? And why is he so good-looking? No! Stop that thought! ~ ~ This girl is really something… Hold on a minute! You’re not… You’re old enough to know better. Snap out of it. ~ “What happened to Drusilla? Buffy told me you were going to go get her back.” “Oh... well… I got a little carried away with the torturing and… Well, Dru’s dust.” “I’m sorry.” “Don’t be! I don’t miss her.” Cordelia finished that last sip of coffee, and Spike got up and took the plate and cup from her. Their hands brushed against each other’s and both were shocked and dismayed at the tingling. He walked out of the room and shut the door firmly. Feedback! Please! I beg of you!
