As the latest episode shows, she's trying to split Lily and Rick apart deliberately. This is especially the case when Grace throws Rick's gift in the kitchen trash along with the left-overs. And when Lily's loser ex comes back, you can see that Grace applies a new meaning to being "Daddy's girl". It makes you wonder why she doesn't pack her bags and stay with her father if she's so opposed to her mother getting on with her life. When it comes down to it, it's not Daria who needs the "self-esteem" class after school (in that great episode, "The Esteemers"). It's Grace. Grace needs to take a step back and learn to not be such a sniveling brat.

The underlying irritation with her character comes out as she fights with Lily over Rick. Singlehandedly, Grace has ruined Thanksgiving dinner and Lily and Rick's first date with her over-the-top hysterics. These actions truly paint her to be closed-minded in any walk of life she chooses to pursue. It's no surprise. She has no goals other than worrying about her looks and how other people see her. She doesn't appear to have any interests--except for making her mother's life hell. This makes me feel even more sorry for her younger sister who is caught in the cross-fire of all parties. Okay, she plays soccer. And she tried to go to a high school party. But even there, she freaked out once again. Big deal.

Lily is clearly being worn out by Grace's antics. Almost in every scene since the Thanksgiving episode, Lily tends to not only depict nervousness, but annoyance every time Grace screams and kicks. You can tell by the look on Lily's face that she hates it when her daughter protests the relationship with Rick. What is worse, Grace's rants are legitmated. The problem is Lily validates her daughter's ill will and foresakes her own happiness to make everyone happy.
