Marlena Black sat on her bed holding a picture of her husband, John.
He was in Paris helping Eric and Greta find out what had
happened to Princess Gina.
"John, I miss you so. I can't wait until you come home to me."
When I need you
I just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you
Is only a hreatbeat away....
Marlena laid down and closed her eyes, holding the picture to her heart,
hoping she would at least be with John in her dreams.
When I need love
I hold out my hands and I touch love
I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day
The next morning, Marlena started to awaken. Reaching her arm out
to John's side of the bed, she remembered John wasn't there.
Miles and miles of empty spaces between us
A telephone can't take the place of your smile
The telephone rang and Marlena eagerly grabbed the phone.
"John??"
"Well, hey Doc! Were you expecting me to call or something?"
"No, just hoping it would be you. I miss you. When are you coming home?"
"It won't be long, I promise. I have to go. I'm meeting Eric and Greta
in 15 minutes. I just wanted to call and tell you how much I love you."
"And I love you. Bye."
But you know I won't be traveling forever
It's cold out
So hold out
And do like I do
Marlena hung up the phone and went to work at the hospital, thinking
it might help her take her mind off of John.
When I need you
I just close my eyes and I'm with you

Is only a heartbeat away
As Marlena entered the penthouse after a long day's work, she recognised
a certain smell.
"Lilacs?" She said as she went to turn on the lights. When she
turned on the lights, Marlena noticed the living room was filled with
lilacs and John was sitting on the sofa. Marlena burst into tears
and ran into John's arms.
"I'm home, Doc. I missed you,"
And I missed you, too."
"I'll never leave you again, Doc." John said as he kissed Marlena.
RING RING- Marlena's telephone woke her up from her wonderful dream.
"Hello?" A half-awake Marlena said.
"Hey Doc! I miss you. Listen, I have a surprise for you, okay?"
"Yeah.." Marlena said, a smile appearing on her face.
"Okay, here's what you gotta do. Go open the bedroom door.
You'll know what to do from there. I gotta go now. BYE!"
"BUT-" Marlena began, but John didn't give her time to reply.
"Just do as I said- Trust me." John said as
he hung up.
Marlena got up and as she approached the door, she recognised
that same smell. Marlena opened the door and a single tear ran
down her face. John was standing there with a bouquet of lilacs.
John placed the lilacs on the table beside the door.
"Lilacs??" Marlena said- as that was the last word spoken. John reached
over and passionately kissed Marlena. He then picked her up and carried
her over to the bed....
