THE PEOPLE

There are many people that go into making a show like Good News Weekend.  There are directors, producers, writers, sound and camera crew, etc.  But the people that make the show what it is and why we love it are the faces we see on the camera every week.

The Host
For anyone who has been living under a rock for the past decade or so and doesn't know who Paul Mc Dermott is I suggest following some of the links I have listed on the links page to learn a bit more about him.  Suffice to say he was a former Doug Anthony AllStar, ex-triple j morning show crew member (still a guest on Friday mornings) and now hosts the regular Good News Week (ABC TV Fridays 8pm) as well as the temporary Good News Weekend show.

The Team Captains
Julie McCrossin and Mikey Robbins are the team captains (as on GNW).  Mikey Robbins is still on the jjj brekky show and Julie does various speechy fundraiser charity things and stuff (I don't know- someone find out for me!)

Flacco, the Sandman and the Keith the Moravian Swearing Bear
Flacco is the incarnation of Paul Livingston.  Flacco has a very distinct view on the world, and is very good at exposing the ridiculousness of the English Language.  Flacco has appeared on TV before in the Big Gig and on DAAS Kapital.  He also used to work with The Sandman on a regular basis on the triple j breakfast show.

Steve Abott is the man behind The Sandman.  Good News Weekend has been The Sandmans first foray onto our television screens.  The Sandman has released a number of books, t-shirts, diaries, CDs, tapes and various other merchandise.  He sings, he tells stories of his mispent youth, and is the inventor of the multi-purpose Hatt-ay-ya.

The Swearing Bear is Mikey Robbins (hmm, good disguise we would never have guessed!)  He too used to be a regular on the jjj brekky show, but now can only be seen in the GNWeekend skits.

The Writers
The people who make the show what it is- brilliantly funny.  They include Ian Simmons, Simon Dodd, George Dodd, Bruce Griffiths, Steve Johnston, Rachel Spratt and Patrick Cook.  They are responsible for all of Paul's monologues, the team members have no script whatsoever, and Paul Livingston and Steve Abott write their own material.

The Gadflys
The Gadflys are a three piece band out of Canberra who have been together for about 9 years.  The Gadflys are Michael and Phil Moriarty and Andy Lewis.  Good News Weekend marks their first television appearance.
