1 month before Alexis’ due date

ELQ offices

(Alexis is standing at her desk and Ned walks in and stands right behind her)

Ned: Hello beautiful.

Alexis: (not turning around) Hello to you too.

Ned: How are you feeling?

(Alexis turns around and is holding onto a chair)

Alexis: Fine.

(Ned walks over to the sofa and as he is doing this Alexis faints into her chair)

(Ned notices that Alexis has fainted and runs over to her)

Ned: Alexis are you all right? (takes her hand) I am going to call an ambulance.

(Ned calls 911 and they come)

EMT: What’s wrong? How many months pregnant is she? (put Alexis onto a stretcher and load her into the ambulance) Are you coming with us? (Ned gets in the ambulance)

Ned: (fear in his voice) She fainted and she is 8 months pregnant with twins. Please don’t let anything happen to her or my children.

EMT: We are going to bring her to the hospital. We advise you call her doctor and tell her to meet us there?

Ned: Don’t worry, Dr. Quartermaine is already at the hospital.

(Ned calls ahead for Monica)

General Hospital

(the ambulance pulls up to the hospital and Monica is there to greet them)

(Monica is standing outside waiting for the ambulance)

Monica: (to Ned) What happened?

Ned: She fainted and I am worried.

Monica: (to EMTs) Put Alexis in Room 2. Ned are you coming?

Ned: I am coming. (grabs Alexis’ hand)

(In the ER room Monica is looking over Alexis)

Monica: Ned she seems to be a little dehydrated. We are going to get some fluids into her. Has she been under a lot of stress lately?

Ned: Work has been very stressful lately. (not telling Monica about Helena)

Monica: Alexis is going to have to be on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. She has two choices. She can spend it at home not going to work or if she does not listen, she will have to spend in the next month in the hospital

. Ned: I understand.

Monica: We are going to move her into a private room in five minutes.

(Five minutes passed and Alexis is in a private room and she is sleeping; Monica and Ned are waiting for her to wake up)

(Alexis has an IV in her hand and a fetal monitor which is keeping track of the heartbeat of her children)

(Alexis starts waking up)

Ned: Hello Alexis. You are in the hospital because you fainted.

. Alexis: (opens her eyes) Hello Ned. (sees Monica standing there)

Monica: Alexis I was telling Ned that you have to be on bed rest for the rest of your pregnancy. You can rest at home but if you don’t listen you will end up back in the hospital. If you decide to stay at home you always have Ned to bring you work from ELQ. I am sure Edward will understand.

Alexis: I would rather stay at the Gatehouse.

Monica: You will be able to leave tomorrow afternoon, if everything is fine.

(the door opens and Helena enters)

(both Alexis’ and Ned’s face drop and Monica just stands there)

Alexis: (screaming) Get out!! How did you know I was here?

Monica: Alexis calm down.

Ned: Helena please get out now. Monica, let me introduce you to Helena Cassadine. Helena this Monica Quartermaine, my aunt.

Monica: Mrs. Cassadine please leave the room now or I will have to call security.

Helena: I will be back. (Helena leaves the room)

(Alexis is really stressed out and Ned notices this)

Ned: Alexis breathe. (to Monica) That is why Alexis cannot stay in the hospital.

(Alexis starts breathing)

Monica: Are you all right?

Alexis: Yes. Ned I am scared for my life and my children’s.

Ned: Don’t worry I will protect you.

Monica: I have to go check on other patients so I will see you tomorrow. Ned you can sleep here tonight if you want.

Ned: Thanks Monica.

(Monica leaves)

Ned: Get some sleep. (Ned gets on the bed with Alexis) I will always protect you.

(Alexis already fell asleep as Ned stares at her)

Alexis’ hospital room

(Morning)

(Alexis is waking up)

Ned: Hello. How are you feeling?

Alexis: I feel a lot better. Has Monica been in here at all?

Ned: Not yet.

(Monica enters)

Monica: Hello.

(walks over to a machine)

Monica: Everything is looking great. You will be able to go home sometime this afternoon.

Alexis: Thanks.

Monica: Don’t forget bed rest and I will be checking up on you.

Alexis: (sarcastic) Yes Dr. Quartermaine

Monica: I will see you before you leave.

(Monica leaves the room)

Ned: I have to go. I will be back in a little while.

Alexis: Where are you going?

Ned: I cannot tell you that.

(Ned leaves the room)

The Port Charles Hotel

Helena’s Hotel Room

(Knock on the door)

Helena: Hold on I am coming.

(Helena opens the door)

Helena: Hello Ned. Come in.

(Ned enters)

Ned: I come here to ask you to leave Alexis alone for the next month. Her children’s life is in danger because of the stress level. And you are not helping.

Helena: Why should I care?

Ned: Maybe you have a heart and some compassion for these children.

Helena: Please leave.

Ned: (as he is leaving) You may need something from Alexis and me. Remember that.

(Ned leaves)

Back in Alexis’ hospital room

(Ned walks in the door with a dozen roses)

(Alexis is sleeping)

(Ned places the flowers next to her and kisses her on the cheek)

(Alexis wakes up)

Alexis: Hey. where did you go before?

Ned: I went to see Helena and I told her to leave you alone.

Alexis: Ned are you serious?

Ned: I want nothing to happen to you or our children.

Alexis: Thanks for the thought. Nice flowers, Ned. Can you put them over there? I am leaving in 2 hours.

Ned: That’s good. Remember I will do whatever you need me to do.

Alexis: Monica told me to start standing up because I might be dizzy. Can you help me?

(Ned comes over and holds her hands; after she stands Ned walks behind her)

Ned: How do you feel?

Alexis: A little dizzy. (holds her head) Can I sit down again?

Ned: You might want to sit in the chair instead of laying down on the bed.

(Ned helps her to the chair and he grabs another chair)

Alexis: I hate this hospital gown. (hold close the back of her gown)

Ned: (laughing) I got a great view which I love. I see you have a back bone.

Alexis: (stern look) Ned….

Ned: I was just joking. (kisses Alexis on the cheek)

(they banter on for a while until Monica comes in)

Monica: I can see you are feeling better, Alexis. (hands Alexis the release papers) Sign these and you are free to go.

(Alexis signs the papers)

Alexis: I’m outta of here

Monica: Be careful. See you soon.

(Ned and Alexis leave the hospital and go to the Gatehouse)
