N- Lexi, are you awake?
A- Yeah, oh, shoot it's noontime.
N- I have an idea. Let's shower, dress, go to lunch, and go to Nestlenook.
A- OK.
After they shower and dress, Ned tells Alexis about this great place that they can eat lunch at.
N- It's called The Scarecrow. It's just down the street. It's quite good.
A- Let's go. I'm starving.
After they have ordered and are seated, Ned starts talking.
N- Have you ever ice-skated before?
A- No. I don't intend to either. I just wanted to see Nestlenook in the daytime.
N- So, I guess this means that I have to skate by myself.
A- Sorry, but yes. The prospect of killing myself on skates and ice doesn't appeal to me.
N- C'mon, it'll be fun. I'll help you. Please.
A- You're so cute when you beg.
N- Thank you.
A- I'll think about skating.
N- Are you finished?
A- Yes.
N- Let's go. You know, I still can't believe that you have never skated.
A- Oh, yeah, I bet I missed out on alot.
N- You did.
A- I'll have to take your word for it.
N- You do that. C'mon, let's go skating.
A- I guess it couldn't hurt.
She looks around while Ned rents skates. She hopes it is as magical as last night.
N- Wow, there's a lot of people here. Here's your skates.
A- These things are going to take forever to lace up. And they're so stiff.
N- You should be thankful that they are stiff. If they weren't, you'd have no ankle support and could hurt yourself.
Ned goes out onto the ice and shows Alexis how to skate.
N- You try.
He holds his hand out to her. She steps on the ice and slips, but Ned catches her. They start skating slowly until Alexis gets the hang of it.
N- See, that's not so bad. You're a fast learner.
A- You're a good teacher.
N- Thanks.
They skate, holding hands, in silence for awhile. After a half hour, Alexis asks if they can stop.
A- It's getting cold and the wind is picking up.
N- You're right.
Ned and Alexis skate over to where they left their things.
A- Do you want to go sit by the fire in the gazebo?
N- Sure, it doesn't like anyone is in there.
A- It is so warm in here.
N- Nice change from outside, huh?
A- Yeah. You know, skating wasn't so bad. I might do it again sometime although, I don't think my legs want to skate again.
N- Sore, huh?
A- Oh, yeah. Are you ready to go back to the hotel?
N- Let's go.
