Alexis is about to tell Ned why she doesn't think she derserves to be loved. They are still at the lake.
A- Ned, I'll tell you in the car on the way home. It's nice up here but it is getting cold.
N- Okay, let's go.
After they get going, Alexis starts talking.
A- Well, it all started when I was in college. I had a relationship with someone who I thought loved me. I guess I thought I loved him too. Well, after a few months he started to hit me. But he always apologized and told me he loved me. I believed him.
Alexis is crying uncontollably now. Ned pulls the car over and hugs her.
N- It's okay. I'm here, Alexis. Let it out.
A-(in between sobs) Can you... take... me back.....to my..suite?
N- I don't think you ought to be alone tonight. You're too distraught. Come to the gatehouse with me. We don't have to do anything. I just want to make sure that you're okay.
A- I... guess I'll go... with you.
Ned pulls the car back into traffic. Alexis is still quietly crying. When they get to the gatehouse, Ned helps Alexis out of the car and upstairs. He sits on the bed until he thinks she is asleep. As he closes the door, he thinks how lucky he is to have her.
N- I love you, Alexis.
Little does he know, but she wasn't quite asleep and heard him.
