This episode took place in January 1995. The night before this show, Jack and Jennifer came face-to-face for the first time after Jack abandoned her. This is the following day after their encounter...

[Jack walks into Alice's kitchen. Alice is taking something out of the oven]
Jack - I smell lasagna!
Alice - And it's for you!
Jack - (smiles) You went to all that trouble for me?
Alice - Well, it's your favorite. And I thought you might need some cheering up.
Jack - Mrs. Horton, I appreciate your kindness more than I can say. But I am not depressed. In fact, I woke up happy this morning. See, I took the first step to getting Jennifer back. And today...... I'm taking an even bigger step. (smiles again)

[Jack, still at Alice's, walks into the kitchen again carrying a boquet of yellow roses]
Alice - (smiles) Oh, you're on your way to see Jennifer.
Jack - Yes. Wish me luck. (smells the boquet)
Alice - You know I do. (pauses) I just hope you're not fighting a losing battle.
Jack - No..... no. I love Jennifer more than anything in this world. There's no way that I'm gonna lose her. I know how much I've hurt her and.... I know it's gonna take a long time to get her back. But I'll do anything in my power to get her back.
Alice - (stares at him) You have changed!
Jack - (smiles) Yes. And I had a lot of help. I didn't do it alone. And I'm sure that once Jennifer hears me out, she's gonna give me another chance. I'm sure of it.
[Jack gives Alice one last smile, and starts walking to the door]
Alice - Oh, I hope you're right.
[Alice pats Jack on the back as he walks out the door]
Alice - (to herself) I hope you're right.

[Jack is outside Jenn's front door now, holding the flowers. He rings the bell. Jenn runs to the door and anwers it]
Jenn - (while opening the door) Who is it?!
[She has the door fully opened now. She sees Jack, then looks at the flowers]
Jenn - Jack...
(Jack smiles at her)

Jenn - What are you doing here, Jack?
Jack - (has a more serious face now) I came here to talk to you. And to see my daughter.
Jenn - Well, our daughter is with Maggie, and we really don't have anything to say to each other, okay Jack?
Jack - Jennifer --
Jenn - (interrupts) Just listen to me, it has been a year!! You haven't even bothered to call us, you sent me divorce papers in the mail out of the blue, all right? Don't bring me flowers like you did in the old days. If you have anything to say to me, you call my lawyer. Do you hear me?
[Jenn starts to slam the door shut, but Jack holds the door open]
Jack - I'm not leaving until you hear what I have to say.
[Jenn looks shocked that Jack is not giving up yet. And Jack looks determined]

Jenn - (quietly) Jack, will you please just leave? Please?
Jack - Just listen to me, okay?! Look, I knew that I was gonna have to change before you would take me back and I have changed. You are the only woman that I have ever loved, the only woman I ever will love. Now please, just give me the chance to show you that I've changed. I know how to love you now. I know how to make you happy.
Jenn - (stares at him for awhile) You know, if you would have said this to me six months ago, it might have made a difference. But my life has changed, Jack. My life has changed for the better.
Jack - Oh! Jennifer, do you know why you got involved with that guy? You were vulnerable, he took advantage of you.
Jenn - No! Peter is the man in my life now! End of discussion.
Jack - Oh, okay. So why haven't you accepted his proposal?
Jenn - (pauses) How did you know he's proposed?
[Jack looks guilty. He knows this because that was the night he watched Jenn accept Peter's proposal after she read Jack's poem to her. Remember, he was watching through a window. By the way, later on she unaccepted Peter's proposal, saying she was acting out her anger towards Jack]
Jenn - Oh, of course. Of course! You are an expert at snooping around. That's the thing that you did the last time you came back to Salem, Jack!
Jack - No, no, no Jennifer. I don't have to snoop around 'cause I know everything about you. I know more about you than this Peter guy ever will, no matter what he does for you in bed!
[Jenn slaps him on the face. Jenn puts her hand on her mouth, like she can't believe she just did that. Jack puts his hand on his face, where she had just hit him]
Jack - (after a long pause, says quietly) I'm sorry........ okay? I shouldn't have said it that way....... but it's true. You may be attracted to Peter, but you love me. And sooner or later, you're gonna take me back.
Jenn - Get out. GET OUT!! All right? If you have anything to say to me, you tell your lawyer to call my Uncle Mickey and don't every come back here again 'cause you will not get past this door.
[Jack stares at her, then notices he's still holding the flowers]
Jack - These are for you.
[Jenn looks at the flowers, then turns around and slams the door in Jack's face. Inside, Jennifer starts crying]

[Jack is on the pier now, going over what just happened]
Jack - (to himself) Damn it! Why can't I get through to her?! I know she still cares about me, but I can't make her realize that unless I can talk to her.
Peter - J.D.!
[Jack looks up and sees Peter]
Peter - (smiles) Hey.
Jack - (gives him a big smile) Hey! Peter! Just the man I wanted to see.
Peter - Oh yeah? (they shake hands) What can I do for you?
Jack - Well, quite a lot actually.
[Jack has a mischevious smile on his face. He's definitely up to something!]

Jack - Yeah, well this, um, negotiation that I've been working on, it's gonna take awhile. I mean, you know what it's like -- being in a town like this? Business?
Peter - (nods in sympathy) Yeah, I know. It can get pretty lonely.
Jack - Yeah, yeah. Well, I was gonna call you. Maybe we can go have dinner sometime. Maybe you can introduce me to that woman you're so crazy about.
Peter - (thinks) You know what, I gotta better idea. We're having a party tonight at Jenn's. Why don't you join us?
Jack - (quick to accept) That sounds great. It's not a problem, is it?
Peter - (hint: read this next line really fast) No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! (LOL!) Not at all! Seven o'clock!
Jack - (smiles) All right! Seven o'clock!
Peter - All right. I'll see you then. (he walks past Jack)
Jack - All right. Thanks.
Peter - (stops and turns around) Oh! Uh, I should probably give you the address. (laughs)
Jack - ....yeah. ....yeah.
Peter - It's 1552 Copperlantern Drive. You'll take Salem Drive over to --
Jack - (interrupts) No, I think I can find it. I'll be okay.
Peter - Yeah?
Jack - Yeah.
Peter - All right, I'll see you there. (he walks away)
Jack - See you there.
[and he continues to smile and smile and smile.....]
