Peter Fong: Ok, I agree complely. If you've read the TVB-review you won't have the urge to watch this serie. (for the summaries, please click here)  It sounds really boring, at least that's what I felt when I saw the trailer too. "It's a boring overdone drama thing, and the make-up of Sut Nay is a laugh. Even the best actors and actress TVB has can't save this serie"
I really considered about not renting it, but because I'm also the founder of this site, I'm forced to watch every serial in order to write a review about it. Wether I like the serial or not... But I'm glad that I've decided to watch it anyway, because it's good, really good.  Secret of the Heart - 天 地 豪 情

The story is very interesting, and not only because it takes it's time to devolep (Felix Wong Yat Wa, one of the main characters wasn't even introduced until the fourth episode), but also because of the many twist and turns in it. I'm glad TVB decided to make this a 60 eps serie, because you can't rush the storyline, otherwise it'd be a waste.
All the actors and actresses are really doing a great job in this serial, but what would you expect with actors and actresses, like Jessica Hester, Amy Kwok, Cheung Ka Fai, Suet Nay, etc, etc.

Wong Yat Wa is simply great in his roll as a semi-bad guy (I'm still not sure if he's a bad guy or not, even after 20 eps) but Gallen Lor Gar Leung is even better. Again, Gallen shows his great acting skills as a gambling-addict. He made this serie very funny, especially the scenes where he quarrels with Amy Kwok are hilarious (take a look at the supermarket-chase).

I really can't find any bad thing to say about this serie (except for the ridicolous make-up of Suet Nay), so my advice would be. RENT IT, or you'll miss one of the best serials of this year.  Secret of the Heart - 天 地 豪 情

I don't know if anyone had noticed it too, but TVB has changed it's way of storytelling dramaticly. Instead of concentrate on the plot, TVB will now dig into the character's background. Making them familiar to the viewer. I've noticed that change in DIF, but now TVB has more and more serials that use this trick. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but i really like this change.

Nancy Hsu: "Secrets of the Heart" is so popular in HK but after Ep. 45, where the main characters begin to die one after another, many stop chasing the series as it doesn't make sense anymore.  I manage to keep watching it but just can't stand "Ka Hung".  He's supposed to be the hero of this story but unlike all the other TVB series, he's so useless.  Maybe we should be glad that the scriptwriter finally doesn't follow the same formula for long TV series anymore.
What I really like about this series is charater development of each main charaters.  The scriptwriters have done a good job in keeping them consistent with growth except for the last 12 episodes (TVB will show the last 2 episodes 61,62 on Mother's Day) because the character of Joe and Michael have changed so drastically and Ka Hung is so stupid that
you want him to get kill by Kelvin ASAP......  Anyway, I'm not sure how far are you right now so I won't spoil you with the latest development. By the way, I found that the new girl, Joe (Ng Mei Heng) is quite good, she could be another Flora Chan if she gets good role in future series.
I've read from magazine that there's a new show with her and Ng Kai Wah called " The brochure of Divorce" (unoffical translated title).  I'm looking forward to this one.

Peter Fong(my reply to Nancy's mail)

I understand what you mean with Ka Hung. He isn't really a strong personality, although I have to admit that he deserve some credits too. It is really tough to take care of someone you love but she doesn't share the love with you. I'm referring to Ada BTW. How many guys out there are willing to help a girl with every thing even though they know that that girl doesn't and never will love them? I know I can't do something like that... Helping a friend is OK, but to take care of someone so much that your own girlfriend get mad of you..... I'm not that noble.

There were some people on the net that says that no one in SOH deserve to be called "Ho Ching". If you ask me, I think almost everyone in this serie can be called that.
Ho Ching can be defined as "dedicated love: to give your whole being to one cause". Apple gave herself to Gallen, Gallen dedicated himself to everyone he know except himself. Ka Hung has Ada. Ada CKF. CKF for revenge and power Felix for Amy. Amy for everyone she loved, etc, etc.
In my opinion the name of this serie really suits the story.

About the length of the story. It really was a good idea to make this a 62-eps serial, because most of the characters went through a major character development. Gallen, from an insensitive jerk to a caring person, just like Felix. Amy from a weak woman to someone who can take care of himself. Ada from a "greedy" person finally can appreciate the inner self of other people, rather than their money.
Such changes in personalities needs a long time to be explained and the scirptwriters had done a good job with that. Only negative thing is that they concentrate on one or two characters at a time. For instance, with the return of Kathy, Gallen was seldom seen, making the viewers "missing" him.

But anyway, that's enough serial-analyzing for today. Overall, I can say that I really like this serial. At least I haven't get bored of it like I do with Kindred Spirit.
